Why you should care about The Power of Economics and Public Policy

"Atlanta (CNN)-Under increasing pressure from major corporations that do business in Georgia, Gov. Nathan Deal announced Monday he will veto a bill that critics say would have curtailed the rights of Georgia's LGBT community.

House Bill 757 would have given faith-based organizations in Georgia the option to deny services and jobs to gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people. Supporters said the measure was meant to protect religious freedom, while opponents have described it as "anti-LGBT" and "appalling.

Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff said the company "can't have a program in Georgia" if the bill were to become law. Disney said it would stop filming in the state, and Unilever said it would "reconsider investment" if the legislation were signed. Coca-Cola spoke out against the bill, as did Home Depot and several other Fortune 500 companies based in Atlanta.

The NFL said the bill could cost Atlanta the opportunity to host the Super Bowl. Time-Warner, the parent company of CNN, also opposed the legislation."

So what's the big deal? What's key here is that major corporations used the threat of what is paramount to state economic sanctions to affect public policy. While business interests and their paid lobbyists have a long history of controlling public policy, often for just their own special interests, this is one of those moments where such influence was used for a more positive, depending on your politics, purpose. Is this just because that such an action was perhaps the right thing to do? Doubt it. Or, was this done because of the potential consumer backlash if they didn't do it? Something to consider.

Money talks is an old cliche but it is true. Look at the change in copmanies now willing to label, and support the mandatory labeling, of GMO ingredients in foods. How about Campbell's Soup announcement that they were eliminating BPA in their cans and General Mills eliminating artificial ingredients from their cereal products. Is this happening because corporations have suddenly developed a conscious--a sense of social responsibility? No, it's because, you, the consumer, have flexed your spending muscles and demanded change with your purchases.

Important is the fact that people can greatly affect public policy, not just by voting, demonstrating, petitioning, or lobbying, but by how they spend their money. This is, perhaps, the most effective way to make your voice heard.

The Climate Monster Under The Bed

While the monster under the bed has been exposed with the help of the Climate Change Marches, will anything really change? The rhetoric is wonderful. As the President said, "No nation -- including ours -- is immune to climate change." But despite all of the speeches and talk of the need for action, it appears that very little will be accomplished.

Sure, executive orders can accomplish a few thins and enforcing rules and regulations could also help, but given that U.S. emissions actually rose this past year and global CO2 emissions set another record, the efficacy of these tools are clearly questionable.

Yes, in recent surveys Americans were found to be more aware of and concerned with climate change, but will people vote for the environment in the upcoming mid-term election? Polls would indicate no. And any real talk of new rules and laws are still putting action years out. Nations aren't even meeting on the topic until December in Lima and then do nothing until Paris in 2015. And even then, given past experience, any real action may not occur for many years after.

The monster in no longer under the bed. It is running rampant throughout the world. With so much money being spent on the effects of climate change, war, and the control of disease, what will be left to spend on ameliorating climate change impact. We cannot stop climate change. What we can do is prepare people and the world for a pollution free and energy sustainable future.

How to Spend (or not spend) Your Holiday Dollars

 
Most of you will be spending extra money on the holidays as spending has trumped the message. Be that as it may, where and on what you spend can be used as a social, environmental, political, and economic statement.

Here's my list on how to spend your hard earned money:

-Don't buy junk. If you know it will hit the landfills in a few short weeks, don't buy it.
-Buy quality and not quantity.
-Buy local. Avoid the chain stores if at all possible. If you must buy from the chains, buy only what you really need and what will last. Avoid trends and what's hot as they will be quickly tossed. Local may well be more expensive for the same item, so search for unique local items of high quality. Who wants to receive what every one else gets.
-Buy green. Yes, it's hard to tell these days what that means. Read labels carefully and pass on those that are a clear environmental threat. Beware of the "all natural" label. Mercury and lead are all natural. There are gifts that can be had from environmental organizations. Buy things of lasting value that won't soon hit the trash bins.

As a consumer, you have the power to determine what products will be offered in the future. Buy crap, and crap is what you'll continue to get. Use your dollars to help protect the environment; to tell businesses that you no longer buy all the hype of useless products; that you'll no longer support products built by child labor or workers subject to intolerable conditions; that quality, durable and useful items will attract your attention, not the junk.

You have the power, use it.

The Myth/Meme, Dilemma of Scarcity

Have you ever seen the phrase, "Hurry while supplies last"? Have you read headlines about food shortages, oil depletion, the water crisis, lack of land? Is the notion of scarcity, real, or fabricated?

Perhaps with respect to a specific consumer item, say an iPhone, it is easy to understand that if only so many are made, then supply is limited. Regarding oil, if they only pump X barrels, then we can see that there will be only so much to go around. If we pollute the water, then there is only so much drinking water that can be consumed. It is easy to understand that there is only so many acres of agricultural land and therefore, only so much food can be produced.

If we view the world parochially, then the notion of scarcity may make sense. Of course, it is also easy to understand that supplies can be manipulated and shortages artificially created. A company make make only so many phones, computers, cars, etc. in order to keep supply low and prices high. In fact, this tends to be the rule, not the exception.

But suppose we take a more worldly and even universal view. There is no shortage of energy on the planet or in the universe. In fact, everything is made of energy. So is it really a question of is there enough oil, or is it simply a matter or trying to determine how to utilize all of the free/abundant energy that exists everywhere? Recent articles in the Huffington Post about teens that invented a flashlight that runs on body heat and on using ambient energy (from radio waves, satellite transmissions, TV, etc) to power small electronic devices are but  small examples of the limitless potential of energy that exists. Of course, we have all heard of Tesla and his free energy devices that have remained hidden. The earth herself is a giant electric generator who is also bathed in electromagnetic energy from the sun and the cosmos. Energy shortage, really?

Okay, but there must be a shortage of food. Well, if you mean cows, corn and rice, you could make the case that there's only so much or that only so much could be produced. However, if we think in terms of sustenance and not pigs, sheep, or grain, it should be a bit clearer that there are limitless ways to sustain life. Science is constantly discovering new super foods, and I don't mean the fake crap they produce in factories using nano-technology, that, while not pizza, they are life sustaining.

Land shortage? Okay, but is there a space shortage? New futuristic building designs are not only energy self-sufficient, but also food self-sufficient; using roof tops, terraces and aqua-culture to grow food. Possibilities are endless.

There is no scarcity other than those self-created or imposed for the purpose of keeping profits high. So what's the dilemma? The concept of limitless supply only works IF you take the universal view. Yes, there is only so much iron on the planet. If it's used up, it's gone. But, it can be forever recycled. There are only so many diamonds. If they're hoarded, they're gone. But so what? We can value something else. There is only so much MONEY? Not true, the Fed has been printing all kinds of money to bailout/give to the banks. We can print all the money we want. It has no intrinsic value other than what we say it has. Water? If all the water is polluted, you will die. But we can stop polluting and we can clean up the water. It is even possible to extract water from desert air and companies have devices that can now do that. Ever hear of 'star water?' It's worth looking up.

The dilemma is just that with a parochial and selfish world view, there are limits, there is lack, and some will have and some will not. But, if humanity as a whole takes a broader view of life, its resources its functions and its requirements, then we discover that we live in an infinite and limitless world in which all things are possible.

FOLLOW THE MONEY

CHOOSING, VALUES, THE ROAD TO 2012

Only that which we perceive has value, has any value. If we had no use for gold or diamonds, they would have little value. The same goes for money. Despite the memes created by the economics elite, much of what we call economics is a big lie that, unforyunately, most people believe. Give a poor man a dollar, and it is worth a dollar. Give a millionnaire a dollar, and the value is the same. We have all agreed what a dollar is worth, even though it is merely a piece of paper with no intrinsic worth.

Overtime, economists have convinced us that others can and should determine the value of a dollar. Investors, banks and even foreign governments determine the value of the U.S. dollar and, we also determine the value of foreign currency. But in truth, all of this is simply what people say something is worth. We are convinced by economists and politicians that money is limited. Limited, that is, until they want to print more. There are no laws in the universe that say if you have more money it is worth less and if you have less money, it is worth more. If that were true, poor people would be the wealthy ones and the rich would be poor.

We, as a society, choose what has value. Things we want are produced; things that we don't want, are not. Quite simply and it has nothing to do with hedge funds, equities, futures, etc. All of those things are merely a way for the few to accumulate wealth at the expense of the poor. Take a look at the 2012 budget proposals. Both the Obama and the Republican budgets are in the same league with respect to the amount of cuts. What's a few trillion among friends?

However, it is not how much is being cut, but rather how the cuts are made. that will help determine the future of our society. Obama has drawn a line that, hopefully, he will stick with. ON onwe side of the line (Republican/Tea Party) we have trillions in cuts shouldered by the poor and the middle class. The wealthy get more; the military gets more, and the middle class and poor get less. On the Obama side, the wealthy and military get less and at the middle class and the poor fair much better. The way we go is a fundamental choice and statement about our future. Do we value the elderly, the poor, those struggling to get by, the American dream; or, do we value the wealthy, banks, Wall Street, the goals of an aristocracy?

These are the choices we must make. Personally, I could care less about deficits. Simply print more money and pay the bills and tell people this is what our currency is worth. Live with it. We have placed the value of a piece of paper above the basic needs of people and this will lead us down a path that is the worst of 2012 prophecy.

I have mentioned on numerous occasions  that the prophecies of the likes of Nostradamus, the Mayans, Hopi, DaVinci and others speak of the consequences of choices that we are offered and not some predestined plan. They tell us that if we stay on this road we will fall off the cliff. The soon to be released BOOK III of the WAKING GOD TRILOGY: THE SECOND COMING OF HUMANITY clearly describes how our choices will determine how we fair in the very near future. We are in a Time of Choosing. There are many choosing freedom over tyranny; spirituality over worn out religious dogma; helping the environment rather than destroying it; and, people over bucks. What will be your 2012 reality?

BANKRUPTCY: NO HARM, NO FOUL

While numbers are not current, total personal bankruptcies rose 29% in 2008 and business bankruptcies rose 41%. Chapter 7 bankruptcies rose 36%. The headlines are replete with job layoffs reaching record highs, downsizing, bailouts, and general economic chaos.
For the consumer facing personal economic collapse, the motto should be, “no harm, no foul.” Look, if the leading corporations and banks in the world cannot make ends meet, why should there be any expectation that consumers can keep their financial ship afloat? We all know that we, the consumer, are wasting billions of dollars by trying to save huge corporations and financial institutions. They are killing us with interest rates, foreclosures, and zero credit. These problems have been generated by corporate greed, ignorance and basic stupidity.
Yes, we must take on the responsibility of our actions. We allowed ourselves to be duped by mass marketing and our own sense of greed. However, fair is fair, at least it should be. The large corporations are taking what little we have and what do we get in return? Layoffs and no credit. Actually, we do not need or even want more credit, we want out of debt. Why should the wealthy few still make their millions while the consumer has a hard time feeding their families? Why should the few take more of our money while we struggle to make ends meet? Why must the corporations get all of the bailout money and the consumer get nothing?
They tell you not to file bankruptcy because it will hurt your credit. What credit? Give money to corporations and there is no problem. Suggest giving money to people and they say, “Oh, that won’t work.” This is all madness. We have forgiven debts of foreign nations, paid corporate debt and given our dollars to banks that use it to buy smaller banks. What would happen if the government said, “We will require that all consumer debt will be reduced by 50%?” What would you do with all of that extra money? That’s how you get the economy moving.
So, for all of you that are worried about going into bankruptcy, don’t. If it is good enough for Wall Street, there is nothing to be ashamed of. The so called brightest economic minds have no clue how to end this crisis. Trust me, clear your debt and watch the credit card offers inundate your mail box. Is this what we want? No. But, feel no shame, there is no foul in taking care of your families.

Please describe briefly how you got started in all this, and how you arrived where you are currently.
My entrepreneurial journey began in 1991 when I literally fell into a career in the fitness industry as a personal fitness trainer. Out of that I also became certified as a Yoga instructor and ended up opening my own yoga studio in Los Angeles. Opening that studio in 1998 was the beginning of the most challenging time of my life. I had gone from working only 20 hours a week, enjoying lots of time off and making great money doing something I loved.... To working 60-70 hours per week, teaching up to 40 yoga classes a week and not able to pay my bills. This challenge lead me to invite some women friends to dinner who could give me the moral support and encouragement I desperately needed. This small group of friends that began in 2000, grew into a large networking organization for women in Los Angeles that was the first networking group to integrate spiritual principles into a business networking environment. During the time this group was growing, I had moved to a larger yoga studio. Unfortunately, this second yoga studio forced me to the edge of bankruptcy and sent me to into several years of financial struggle. Thankfully the Network for Empowering Women Entrepreneurs gave me the inspiration and motivation I needed to keep pursing my dream of entrepreneurial freedom. I experienced a lot of personal fulfillment and success through NEW, as did it’s hundreds of members, but sadly the organization was not something I planned on (I just thought I’d meet with a few friends for dinner once a month, not host meeting for early 100 women in a hotel ballroom), so it wasn’t intentionally built on a profitable financial model. Again, I was faced with having to shut down this business because it just didn’t make financial sense anymore. Around the time I was coming to this realization, I was also on a deep personal quest to figure out what it really took to make a business success in making a difference and making money. This is what set me on the path of identifying what it meant to be a conscious entrepreneurs, what the elements for success were for this new and growing business model, and how I could experience this in my own life. After several years on this quest of personal, spiritual and professional development, I was inspired to put my understandings down on paper and wrote the best-selling book, The Freedom Formula: How to Put Soul in Your Business and Money in Your Bank. The process of writing this book, pursuing my purpose and clarifying my message has opened so many doors of opportunity for me, it has been a miracle to experience. Which of your projects are you currently most excited / passionate about?
The Freedom Formula Experience! www.FreedomFormulaExperience.com. This event is going to set the stage for a whole new movement for conscious entrepreneurs... my intention is that this event has a tangible, positive impact on our world.
How much of your work is focused specifically toward women? Please explain.
While I don’t exclusively market to women, 90% of my clients are women. I think, in general, the type of work I do that incorporates business and spirit naturally attracts women. I find that women are often more conscious of their spiritual connection and are seeking more meaning and purpose in their business.
What are some of the ways / places in which you promote your enterprise?
I published a bi-weekly award-winning ezine, Conscious Business Connection.
I distribute media releases at least twice per month.
I do a lot of joint venture marketing with like-minded entrepreneurs in which they’ll host a teleclass for their database with me as the guest speakers.
I place advertisements on the internet through Google Adwords.
I submit articles online to several article distribution services.
I network and speak at live events.
Social networking primarily on Facebook and Ning.
Whom / what does your network currently include? How far does your network extend? (AND / OR: What is the size of your list / your outreach?)
My ezine reaches more than 6,000 entrepreneurs world-wide with the majority of readership in the United States. My network is the most valuable asset I have in my business.
What has been the best about building a network: Positive experiences?
Benefits, expected and unexpected?
The best thing about building my network is the tremendous amount of resources I have at my fingertips every single day. Resources in terms of trusted colleagues and collaborators, vendors for any need I may have and... and an abundance of financial resources.
What challenges (if any) have you found in your networking experiences? Unexpected events? Any benefits emerging from challenges in the long run?
My greatest challenge has been following up with people I meet in person. It’s so easy to meet wonderful people everywhere I go, but it’s not easy to always follow through with all of those contacts to the degree that I’d like to. The emerging benefit has been creating some great free resources for my target audience. Now, when I meet people I want to stay connected with, I ask for their permission to send them my free Conscious Business Success Kit which includes a subscription to my award-winning ezine. This allows me to ethically opt them into my database and be able to maintain communication with them.
Bottom line – What do you feel is really working well for you / your company at this time?
Hands down, what’s working for me is my network! Most recently, as soon as my network found out about The Freedom Formula Experience coming up in January, they are coming out of the woodwork to ask me how they can help me promote the event. The other thing that’s really working well is having my book The Freedom Formula done. Readers are having great results from reading the book and sharing it with their friends. The buzz is spreading because of the pass-along value of the book. This is working really well right now and I am so grateful for everyone who is connecting with my book.
What’s the achievement / accomplishment you’re most proud of at this time?
Not quitting on my dream. I’ve faced some very challenging times... and keep hearing from others that I should just give up and get a job. And, I never did. I knew I had something to contribute through my own business, and I kept pursuing that purpose no matter what.
What are your plans and goals for the future (organizational / personal), especially regarding networking activities?
My goal for the future is to continue publishing books and developing new products and services that help entrepreneurs grow their business based on spiritual principles. As far as my networking activities go, right now they seem to be taking o a whole new level. I think the future of my networking activities will be more focused on networking with centers of influence in related fields and leveraging those connections to impact more people.

If you have the desire in your heart to succeed as a woman entrepreneur, you can. Don’t ever give up on yourself or your dream. Keep yourself surrounded by supportive people who believe in you. Ask for help and know that everything that happens to you in your life and your business is happening for a reason... to serve your highest good, and the highest good of the people you’re meant to serve.

How to Shift into Abundance
In times like these, when the external world is absorbed in "lack, lack, lack", it's more important than ever for you to shift into abundance... and stay there. Yet, when I analyzed the responses to my recent survey (on the challenges you face in your business), the majority said they were having trouble getting out of fear and living in abundance.
So, in this article I'll be sharing one of the most powerful tools I use to shift into abundance... no matter what's happening around me. This is a process I use practically every single day to keep myself in the energy of abundance. Not only is this process simple, energizing and fun; it works!
Energize Your Vision
Step 1: Find a vision partner. In order for your vision to have the biggest impact on your life, it's best to energetically speak your vision out loud to a vision partner. Your partner needs to be someone who "gets" you and who believes in an abundant world. Create a partnership with someone who support you in your dreams, doesn't call you "crazy" for thinking BIG, and understands the power of a held intention.
Step 2: Set up a time to talk with your partner. Once you've found a visioning partner, make an appointment to talk on the phone for at least fifteen minutes every week. The first time you have your call, you may want to schedule a bit longer so you can talk about the process after you're done and check-in with each other to see if you have any suggestions or feedback for future sessions.
Step 3: Create a sacred space. When it's time for your vision call, you'll want to do a brief centering exercise that aligns you with each other and establishes the sacred space in which you'll share together. Just taking a few deep breaths together can easily get you centered. (That's the yoga instructor in me speaking.)
Step 4: Speak your vision. After you've taken a few deep breaths and created a scared space together, the first person to go simply begins to speak their vision to their partner... as if you were experiencing it right now! Allows yourself to transcend any current situation in your life right now and truly shift into the energy of your vision ALREADY being realized. When you do this, you connect at the highest level of the Infinite Abundant Supply, to God, the Universe (or whatever you call that Source of all that is). And, your resonance with this "field" is what causes things to shift in your life.
Step 5: Listen to your partner. As important as it is for the person speaking their vision to step into the energy of having ALREADY realized their dreams, the partner (listener) also has an important responsibility. The listener must hear his/her partner's vision as if it IS already done. They must hold the vision, and see it as vividly as their partner does. Then, once the partner is complete, the listener says, "I see that vision for you." The listener can also contribute any additional words of support or any insights they received that would benefit their partner in realizing their vision.
The experience of having another person listen to you with the intention of your vision being realized is deeply powerful. It's been one of the best tools I've ever used in manifesting all that has come to me in recent years from the birth of my daughter and the purchase of a brand-new custom home, to the release of one business and the rapid expansion of another. I urge you to find a partner and get started with this today because remember.... it's not only fun, it works!
NOTE: If you cannot find a vision partner for this process, then you can simply do it on your own. Be sure to SPEAK your vision out loud, even if only to yourself. The spoken word, (and the energy) it carries is a key piece for this to work.
Believe in Your Power to Transform the World
What would it take for you to BELIEVE you can truly transform the world?
No matter what business you're in, no matter where you live, no matter what challenge you may be facing right now... you absolutely stand in a place of power to positively transform the world. And, if you're saying to yourself, "Yeah, that's easy for you to say, Christine, but you don't know what I'm going through." I assure you, I understand because I've been there. I know what it's like to believe in your ability to transform yourself (and others) when it appears that nothing is going your way.
Remind yourself of the fact that being alive right now, as the unique being that you are, is a miracle in and of itself! The moment you were conceived you were a miracle, and you continue to be... no matter what may be going on in the world around you.
The reality you live in depends heavily on the conversations that occur in your mind. Your level of belief in yourself (and the power you possess to make a real difference in the world) exists in your mind as well. So, here are some ways you can increase your belief in your ability to transform the world. Keep in mind, when you think of "the world" remember you don't have to transform every single person on the planet, but you do need to impact those in YOUR world.
1) Remember Your Accomplishments
One of the best things you can do to establish deeper belief in yourself, and your abilities, is to remember your past accomplishments. Take out a piece of paper, grab a pen and begin to list your accomplishments right now. What success have you experienced in your business, your relationships, your education, your friendships, your family, with your clients, your mindset, your personal goals, your partnerships, your masterminds, etc. Everything counts! So, start your list now and keep adding to it. This exercise will help you stay in a higher vibration so you can continue to do what you're here to do... and continue to impact lives.
2) Remember The Difference You've Already Made
This is another terrific "list" exercise that connects you with the difference you've already made in the lives of others. Whenever you doubt the power you have to create positive change, recall those moments in which you KNEW, beyond the shadow of a doubt, that you made a difference.
Right now, think about those experiences you've had with a client where you knew you made a difference. Perhaps you saw it in their eyes, heard it in their voice, or read it in their words. Then, keep this list handy and read it often. For me, when I need a reminder, I read my Amazon.com book reviews for The Freedom Formula. It's an instant connection right back to the impact my book is having on readers worldwide. For you, it may be going to your "brag file," or reading a note from a client or testimonials on your own website. Whatever it is for you, anytime you feel your doubt waiver... remember the difference you've already made and it will help you make a bigger difference in the days, months and years to come.
3) Remember Your Higher Purpose
This strategy invites you to elevate your perspective of why you're here, living on the planet at this critical point in time. You are here to wake up and help others wake up to the new world that is emerging right now. You chose to be here at this important time because you have a unique purpose to fulfill in helping others to heal, grow, transform, evolve, and become all that they were meant to be. Your purpose may be showing up as a gentle whisper or a booming voice... but it is clear that you are here to be a force for positive change in the world. So, remember your purpose (even if it's not crystal clear yet) and let that carry you into deeper and deeper belief in the role you have to play in transforming the world.
These three strategies are essential for staying on track with your dreams and being a CAUSE for positive change in the world. Doubt and fear will likely surface as you take bigger and bolder steps in your business to create more transformation for others. But, not to worry... when you come back to these strategies, you'll realize that nothing can keep you from doing what you're here to do. And so it is...

HOW TO ALTER THE AMERICAN ECONOMY!

Despite the economic slowdown, layoffs, mortgage foreclosures and a generally depressed economy, the American consumer is still the most powerful economic force on the planet. With selected use of its holiday spending, the consumer can forever alter the American and world economy. Solace should be taken in the fact that billions of dollars are still being spent to get you to buy, buy and buy this holiday season. How you spend your money and what you spend your money on can forever alter what and how products are produced.

With great sadness I heard the story of the death at a Wal-Mart store where hoards of consumers trampled a person to death just to get a shot at holiday bargains. Those that did this represent all that has been wrong with our economy and the consumer. With the promise of ‘big savings,’ throngs of frenzied shoppers did just what large corporations want the consumer to do; spend their money mindlessly! If we are to come out this emerging depression and if we are to save the planet from increasing risks of environmental collapse, the consumer must use its spending power to alter the way business does business.

Image this as headline news on December 26th. “While holiday retail spending was the worst in recent memory, the American consumer sent a clear message to businesses; they want change and will use their hard earned dollars to get it. Americans abandoned their traditional habit of buying anything that carried a ‘sale tag’ and sought out products that were natural, eco-friendly, lasting and American made. While almost all retail sectors were down, there were sharp rises in natural health and beauty products, small scale solar products, items made with glass and steel instead of plastic, crafted toys, natural fiber clothing and durable goods that have a sound history of actually being durable. Store owners, dismayed with all of the products still left on the shelves said that next year, they will abide by consumer wishes and stock those items that that meet changing consumer preferences.”

This type of story does not have to be a fairytale. It can happen and it can happen now. As a consumer, you can buy non-plastic item. Stainless steel water bottles, glass baby bottles, and toys made from safe materials can be found. Yes, these may cost a little more but once this type of spending habit is developed, costs will come down. If need be, look on the internet and shop on-line for natural products and stop trampling people to death. If internet sales of such companies sky rocket, businesses will get the hint. Find clothing that is made of natural fibers. If it costs a lot, buy fewer items. At least you know that the gift will not give people skin disease from petro-chemicals in the fibers. There are all types of natural health and beauty aids. Buying these products will tell companies to stop putting carcinogens in make-up. There are hundreds of solar and other alternative energy products that you can buy on the internet. From outdoor solar lights, wind-up radios and flash lights, to solar powered chargers for laptops, cell phones and IPods, spending on these items will let industry know that you are serious about alternative energy products. It is said that form follows thought. Know also that products follow dollars. Instead of cheep particle board furniture, but those made of solid wood. If it costs too much, get one piece at a time rather than buying a whole set. At least what you get will last and will not contain chemicals used to make pressboard.

And you know, you can always buy books! Instead of just the big names from the big chain stores, visit the smaller independent bookstores and buy some unknown authors. Buy books from small presses instead of the Big Six publishers that have controlled 90% of what they offer you to read. Save some trees and buy a Kindle reader from Amazon and download books in seconds. Find books that not just entertain but that also inspire others to help create a new way of life and a new way of doing business. Check out authors like Jack canfield, Juna Jinsei, Susan Shumsky, Marvin Wilson, Linda Walker, Joyce Moore, Brian Doe and yours truly, Philip F. Harris.

The point of all of this is that you, the consumer, stand at a crossroad. You can continue to spend money on poorly designed sometimes dangerous and useless non-lasting items. These items will all end up in the overflowing landfills in weeks and will add to climate degradation. Alternatively, you can choose the path that creates a more sustainable world and buy products that have meaning and durability. You can choose to trample or you can choose to alter out economic system. Tell businesses what you want and do it with your dollars. You have the power. Don’t continue to put that power in the hands of others.

NO TURNING BACK FOR ECONOMY

There is no “riding out” the current economic crisis. If you follow the news you hear comments like: we can ride this downturn out, things have been worse, it won’t last too long, and the economy will turn around and other similar non-reassuring commentaries. These people have their heads in the sand; things will not return to “normal.” The follow report from CNN is revealing
NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- Americans are feeling a lot more economic pain than the government's official statistics would lead you to believe, according to a growing number of experts.
They argue that figures for unemployment and inflation are being understated by the government.
Unemployment and inflation are typically added together to come up with a so-called "Misery Index."
The "Misery Index" was often cited during periods of high unemployment and inflation, such as the mid 1970s and late 1970s to early 1980s.
And some fear the economy may be approaching those levels again.
The official numbers produce a current Misery Index of only 8.9 - inflation of 3.9% plus unemployment of 5%. That's not far from the Misery Index's low of 6.1 seen in 1998.
But using the estimates on CPI and unemployment from economists skeptical of the government numbers, the Misery Index is actually in the teens. Some worry it could even approach the post-World War II record of 20.6 in 1980.
"We're looking at government numbers that are really out of whack," said Kevin Phillips, author of the book "Bad Money."

Remember the recent reports concerning the government cover-up of key climate change data? The White House was concerned with data that did not back their views on climate change and subsequently censored data that contradicted that view. While it is understandable that the government would be concerned over economic panic, one recalls the Great Panic of 1929, it is nevertheless worse to lead the public down a primrose economic path.

The economy will not return to the way it was and this is a positive thing. Gas prices will not go down. Food will not get cheaper. Drilling for new oil will solve nothing. People have got to realize that we have reached a “planetary carrying capacity” with respect to our “normal” way of living. In other words, the planet cannot sustain life as we have known it at higher levels. Unless we fundamentally alter the way we live, problems will only worsen and accelerate.

Oil has reached its peak. Drilling for more will make little difference as demand has already exceeded supply, both current and future. The time is now, actually past due, to invest massive amounts of resources into a totally new supply of renewable, non-polluting form of energy. Just “Google” water powered cars and see the potential. On the food front, climate change has altered the way agriculture will do business. Large corporate farming is not the answer. When they are hit by floods and drought we are all too familiar with the outcome. It is way past time to support local, small scale agriculture. Just like the stock market, put all of your money in one fund and you are wiped out if it crashes. Diversity is the key and the same holds true with farming. Stop wasting money on the “junk food,” eat natural and support local.

No matter what aspect of society is examined, it is clear that change is here to stay. There is no turning back and trying to do so would not be very smart anyway. The past is not sustainable. These and many related issues are being discussed in thousands of forums on the internet. From the social network sites,” Humanity on Trail” and “Powerful Intentions” to blog and chat rooms, people are beginning to understand that we will not “ride out” the current crisis, rather we need to create a new world that makes some sense if we are to survive as a species. Rather than trying to cover things up, it is time for the government to recognize and admit to what is really happening and work with the people to chart a new direction for the sake of survival.

WANT TO MANIFEST MONEY TO BEAT HIGH GAS PRICES?

In an interview with Dyan Garris, Author, Money and Manifesting I asked her some questions about manifesting in a time when everyone is thinking scarcity. This is my second interview with her since the topic has gained renewed importance as food, oil and gas prices have begun to skyrocket. People trying to use the Law of Attraction in the current “recession” are trying to ease financial burdens. Dyan note’s that for many, nothing is happening. She says, “It is not enough to think positively, repeat affirmations and attract positive energy. We must implement and integrate this leaning.” In her new book, Dyan talks about belief systems that are impediments to a life of abundance. Factors such as fear, the duality of consciousness, karma, the concept of entitlement, the illusion of separateness, the illusion of limitation and of time are keys to understanding why efforts at manifestation fail. In truth, we manifest all of the time. We may not like what we manifest, but we must take responsibility for “all” that is in our life. With opening our internal energy centers, Chakras, as part of the real secret, Dyan and I talked about many of these issues.

Q. It is said we are a product of our past. Actually, some would say the past dictates the future. What, in your opinion, are the major obstacles in one’s past that need to be overcome or “deleted” to effectively free our minds to pursue our own dreams?

A. From a different point of view it can be said that there is no past and there is no future. It depends on how one conceptualizes time. I will, however, answer your question in terms of earthbound perspective. To effectively move forward on the path, we need to look at belief systems that were taught to us as a foundation and study where those belief systems came from in the first place and why we believe them. The biggest obstacles in this arena are fear, the concept of money as it relates to self-worth, and the illusion of limitation. Any fear based belief system is an obstacle to moving forward, because fear keeps us stuck. Also, keep in mind that freeing our minds is just one step in pursuing our dreams. We don’t create with just the power of our minds.

Q. To what extent do you feel that religious beliefs prevent people from utilizing the LOA?

A. I can see that to some extent people may feel that the Law of Attraction is not simpatico with their religious beliefs. If the religious concern about utilizing the Law of Attraction has to do with “God providing,” then people could try to understand that The Law of Attraction is a universal law, sort of like gravity. It isn’t a religious thing. It simply is. If we’re looking at a religious belief that teaches “money is the root of all evil” or the “pursuit of money is evil,” I could see how that could get in a person’s way. But it isn’t really money that’s evil. Money is simply a means of exchange. It’s the glorifying of the money that’s at the heart of the religious objection. Wherever one’s religious beliefs or any beliefs are fear-based, this gets in the way of moving forward in any direction. It is important to understand that in general, and right now the manner in which the Law of Attraction is being utilized is as a warped distortion of what the ego wants, rather than what God wants. The Law of Attraction is not meant to be used by itself as a way to get what one wants. It’s one step in the process of manifesting. The Law of Attraction works best when one’s own will is first aligned with universal/God’s will.

Q. How does one overcome these beliefs?

A. Most people think that by making a change this will change their entire foundation and completely shake up who they think they are. This is not so. But it isn’t really a matter of overcoming one’s religious beliefs. It’s a matter of overcoming fear. And in order to do that, one would have to get to the very root of the fear and then have a desire to not be afraid. So it isn’t that you chuck your religious beliefs. It’s that you incorporate the truth instead of fear. You open your mind to endless possibilities and realize that we’re living in an illusion. No matter what the religious beliefs are the truth is that fear and love cannot exist in the same place. We cannot serve two masters, so to move forward we need to pick one. It’s really a matter of being willing to align your free will with your universal purpose and be willing to get out of your illusions. The concept of “lack” did not originate from “God.”

Q. How does a person deal with the pressures of church, family, friends and even the media when it comes to altering ingrained belief systems.

A. You give yourself permission to just be who you are and do whatever it is you came here to do. You give yourself permission to move past the illusion of limitations that don’t even belong to you in the first place. If your concept of self-worth is not coming from the outside, you are capable of validating your own parking ticket.

Q. We believe we are sick, sinners, the product of our environment and society. How do people effectively end the reign of “dogmatic terror?”

A. We need to examine why we persist in believing in the concepts of fear-based and punishing beliefs regarding religion. We are here to learn about love and grow and we have chosen to believe in this illusion and other illusions that give us room to learn and grow. What we believe certainly has dominion over us. Ending the reign of “dogmatic terror” becomes a matter of choosing to believe what is true rather than what is illusion.

Q. In order or rank, please list the major obstacles (and reasons) people need to overcome to master control of their lives.

A. 1. Fear – Nothing is created from a place of fear. The power is in the love.
2. Fear of losing money and possessions – We have convinced ourselves that we need money and possessions to survive. If we didn’t have these we would figure out a different way to exchange and a different way to live. There is nothing to be afraid of.
3. The illusion of limitation – If we believe that we cannot, then we cannot. If we believe that money is going to solve all our problems and we will just wait until we win the lottery or have enough of it to live life on our terms, then we truly have missed the point of our lives.

Q. Is it necessary to alter the social paradigm of lack and scarcity for an individual to achieve manifestation success? How do they combat the constant onslaught of negative media regarding how “bad” things are?

A. Change that affects everyone does actually begin on an individual level. So those mastering manifestation individually are already helping to shift the entire paradigm. Eventually that shift ripples into mass consciousness and begins to shift on a collective level. It helps to examine at a basic level what we are really afraid of. Are we afraid of not having houses and cars? And why? Fear is a vibration that emanates and permeates. An individual can achieve manifestation success by first understanding that the Law of Attraction is a function of the mind and understanding that is but one step in the process. Combating the negative onslaught becomes a matter of what you are willing to vibrate to and what you are willing to invest your energy in.

Q. How does one manifest abundance when “everyone” says there is lack?

A. Abundance depends on how you define it. There are different forms of abundance. One could actually manifest an abundance of lack. Belief systems shape reality. By not “buying in” to lack, you’re not investing in it. If you aren’t invested in it, you can’t “lose” anything. People need to learn to co-create. It’s how we are intrinsically and biologically designed to create. At the point that you’re consciously co-creating and living in synchronicity, “lack” is an illusion.
I would encourage all who seek to fend of the “sling and arrows” of outrageous food and gas prices to read Dyan’s book. There is no scarcity, only the belief in scarcity will keep you from sharing in the abundance that “appears” reserved for the few.

Q. Most people never heard of Chakras, how do you overcome the notion that this is some strange eastern concept that is not appropriate to the western thought? Even the Dali Llama has said people in the West should not adopt a Buddhist way of thinking and yet that is what you are suggesting. Is there anything in Western thought that would correspond to the whole concept of energy centers that would be more “appetizing” to the average person?

A. I find it sad that spiritual and religious leaders still believe in and promulgate the illusion of separation. However, what the Dali Lama said here is probably taken out of context. I’ve been seeing Chakras since I was a small child. At the time I just didn’t have a word, label, or category for what I was seeing. I’m not a Buddhist. And as a child it never occurred to me to label Chakras as East or West. Our labels are taught to us. The concept of energy centers is very simple. We have our physical bodies. We have our spiritual bodies, our aura, and that includes our Chakras. To me it’s like saying that teeth are part of a different or strange way of thinking. Teeth are teeth. Chakras are Chakras. Everything has its purpose. Just as an arm or a leg is part of the physical body, Chakras are simply part of the spiritual body.
Part of the purpose of Chakras is to provide the connection between your physical reality and your soul. If you truly didn’t understand the function of an arm or a leg, you might think it was a strange thing. But when you learned that this really had a specific function and you learned to use it in a way that helps you, then perhaps it would cease to seem so odd. And most importantly, in order for us to move forward as a species, West really needs to meet East in an integrative effort. It’s what we’re currently trying to learn on individual levels in the guise of manifesting. That’s what’s going to shift everything ultimately, “integration.”

Q. People’s social, political, spiritual, moral and ethical values are very scattered and disjointed these days. You want people to integrate body, mind and spirit. Keep it simple, how do people do that in an age where everything is changing so rapidly?
A. We do that simply by remembering who we are and what we came here to do.

MANIFESTING MONEY!

I have had the opportunity to interview, Dyan Garris, author of the new book, MONEY AND MANIFESTING. Given my recent blog on TIPS FOR THE RECESSION, the timing of this interview is perfect and the timing of the book is perfect. 1.Many critics of The Secret argue that focusing on the accumulation of wealth is a poor use of the Law of Attraction. While I disagree with this, why have you decided to make this at least one focus of your work?
The focus on the accumulation of “wealth,” which here we will define as “money” (because there are different types of “wealth”), is not in and of itself a poor use of the Law of Attraction. The problem is that having the focus there is focusing on attracting from a place of ego. Ego is not the place from which we manifest anything. So, we may be able to attract; but that isn’t really manifesting. One of the problems is that by having the focus there we are creating from a place of limitation, and/or within an existing framework, belief system or pattern, while one is trying to do exactly the opposite. I call this “negative manifesting.”

2.Do you unblock the energy flow of money or do you unblock energy that allows the flow of money?

This is a good question, Phil. The answer really is both. The energy flow of money is often blocked by the blockage of the energy that allows for the flow of money.

3.When you say “transform energy,” what exactly do you mean?

Everything is energy. Money is energy. It’s a form of exchange. The representation of that is “paper.” The paper itself has no real power. But the energy of money does because we believe it does. Our belief system fuels the energy of money. We firmly believe that money has power.

Here is a basic example of transforming energy: Let’s say we take a raw egg. It’s an egg. Whether we scramble or fry it or boil it, it’s still an egg; but its form has changed. The energy of it has changed. So it is still an egg, but now it vibrates differently than it did as a raw egg. There are a lot of things you can do with a hard boiled egg that you cannot do with a raw egg.

Taking this a bit further, if we add a raw egg to a cake batter and then bake the cake, the energy of the egg, which is still an egg, transforms into something that makes the cake rise. By doing something different with the raw material we have basically transformed the energy of it.

So if we’re talking about transforming the energy of money, it’s about really understanding at a basic level what money really is and then transforming that base energy into something you can use in a different way.

4.Is it a question of “learning to manifest,” or controlling what we manifest? According to the law of Attraction, we manifest everything in our life either consciously or unconsciously. So isn’t it really a matter of taking conscious responsibility and control of what we do every day?

Manifesting is a process. Utilizing the truths of the laws of attraction is one step in the process of manifesting. Form definitely follows thought. Our thoughts have power. And we can control our thoughts, and therefore ostensibly control what we manifest. So, yes, we need to take conscious responsibility of our everyday thoughts and actions. However, the energy of creation lies in another part of our body and that part of our body is the root, not the mind. So, in learning to manifest, one learns to connect the thoughts with the energy that rises up from the root, thus taking conscious responsibility of what we manifest and intend to create.

5.When you use the term “voice of the angels,” what do you mean? Is this in a religious context or a metaphor for spiritual guides?

It is neither. Angels cross all religious boundaries. Angels are bringers of information and messages. “Voice of the Angels” began as the title of my deck of angel cards, journal, and companion CD. Each card has a message from angels in quatrain verse. They are the “voice” in Voice of the Angels. They brought forth messages of comfort and angelic guidance and continue to do so through the music , meditations, and my entire body of work.

6.Please define clairvoyant, clairsentient and clairaudient.

We were not dropped off on the planet without ability to communicate with Creator, Source, angels, guides, or other disincarnate beings. Even if you don’t believe in a supreme being, we were still all given the ability to communicate. We all have intuitive ability. Lately as the veil thins between our world and the other realms, people continue to awaken to and accept the truth of who they really are. That is spirit in a physical vehicle, with the ability to naturally intuit.

Then we began to have a lot of people who started calling themselves “psychic” or “clairvoyant.” True clairvoyance means the ability to predict, to see into the future, usually without the aid of a bridge tool such as tarot cards or crystal balls or the like. And that “seeing” usually is in pictures or images. It is more than a “knowing” or a hearing of voices. If one understands time as multi-dimensional, rather than the linear concept of time that we have come to accept as reality for convenience sake, seeing into the “future” really isn’t so strange.

Clairsentient can be defined as an intuitive sense of “knowing.” Clairaudience is the ability to “hear” frequencies that other people aren’t usually tuned into. In other words, we are not all tuned into the same radio station. All of these gifts function similar to a radio. First one must turn the radio on; and then in order to “get” anything clearly, one must then tune in to a particular frequency.

7.What is a voice recognition psychic and how does this work?

Everything is energy. Every name and every number has a vibration and a sound vibration that equates to a particular unique frequency. When a name is said aloud, and together with a number - a birthdate, for example - that works like a personal unique key to that particular individual. A voice recognition psychic is simply someone who can recognize or “know” that person’s energy from the combination of the sound vibrations of their name, number and voice.

You can have two people named John Smith with the same birthdate, but the energy of their voice is very different and unique to them. You can have someone with a nom de plume, or even someone that gives you a fake name, and the minute they start talking I can tell that is not their given name. But the intrinsic vibration of their spirit is the same.

So, the name or number isn’t really that important. Most times I don’t need a last name or even a number really. I can usually tune in on someone’s energy just by hearing the voice and whatever they say their name is. It’s a sound vibration and frequency that connects the energy of a person with who they really are.

8.Can you read into a person’s written word as well? I will open myself up here to scrutiny so what sense might you be getting of me from these questions? I will print what you say!

Everything is energy including the written word, and so the written word also carries with it the energy of the person who wrote the words. You aren’t asking me for a reading, are you Phil? I’m smiling.

There is something I didn’t mention in question #6 about psychics and clairvoyants. Most “psychics” or “intuitives” or even empaths can read energy that already exists and therefore can tell you what has already happened or things that you already know. But they can’t tell you what’s going to happen because that isn’t where they’re looking. That isn’t where they’re putting their focus. It is relatively easy to read energy that already exists here already or that has existed.

Clairvoyance is forward moving energy and can read energy that perhaps to others doesn’t seem to exist. It does exist somewhere, but isn’t here yet. It just depends upon where you are looking in “time.” I just have the ability to bring that information back here. It’s what is normal, rather than paranormal, to me.

It never made much sense to me to tell people things they already know. This would perhaps make us both feel good in terms of you being able to think that I might actually know something, and verify that I am right about certain already existing facts. To me this serves no real purpose. My point is that I could tell you a lot of things you already know, but why? It wastes both our energy. You already know what you know about yourself. And there are perhaps a lot of things I could tell you about what I sense about you that someone could say I looked up somewhere, or surmised in some manner. Or, these things might sound very general. I like to be specific.

Therefore, I will tell you something you don’t already know and you can give me confirmation when it occurs. Spirit says that in June or July of 2008 you will have slight injury, sprain, twisting or similar to your left knee. Now, the common response to that usually is, “I don’t have anything wrong with my knee, “or “I had something wrong with my knee last year.” People have gotten very used to psychics telling them what already is or what has already happened. Clairvoyance is telling what has not yet occurred.

9. What is a channeled message for those who do not understand the concept? Who gives you the message and to what extent do you feel that your own thoughts and ideas intermingle with those messages?

I am simply just a bringer of information. The “Daily Channeled Message” on my site is information that I am asked to bring forth. I do not channel ascended masters and guides. I do not believe in the illusion of separation. I am channeling “source.” I’m tapping into a universal grid. I receive the theme of what I am to write about for the day while I am in prayer and meditation, and it is my choice as to form of delivery. I try to write it in terms that everyone can relate to in some way and apply in their daily life. My own thoughts and ideas don’t really have anything to do with the channeled message, but certainly my writing style or style of delivery does. Sometimes I do have my own ideas about what I think I’m going to address for the day or what I want to address, and I sit down to write it and out comes something entirely different.

10.What role does music play in achieving a higher state of awareness? Do you feel that popular music, in general, helps or hinders this process? Are there certain types of music, vibrations, that you feel enhance the awakening process?

Music is sound vibration and frequency. Music has the ability to help someone quiet their inner chatter, and therefore reach a relaxed state of being and through that a higher state of awareness. Everyone resonates to and feels resonant with a certain rhythm or beat. Popular music can make some people feel frenetic while at the same time helping another person to relax. It’s a matter of personal vibration, beat, frequency. All types of music have the ability to enhance the awakening process. It’s simply a matter of what one feels resonant to. Any music that relaxes a person can have an effect on the person’s ability to focus on whatever it is they need to focus on for their personal awakening process.

11.In your opinion, what are the basic steps in consciously manifesting your higher desires?

This is a very interesting question because when we’re defining “higher desires” we would be talking about desires that don’t have anything to do with what the ego thinks it wants, needs, and desires. The two really are disparate. To manifest higher desires one would have to first align one’s own will with universal will and go from there. However, I think what you’re asking me is to outline the basic steps in manifesting. The very first thing to do is to understand everything, including money, as energy. Then one needs to examine one’s learned belief systems and patterns about whatever it is they are trying to manifest to see if and where exactly they are blocking the flow of energy, and why. Then one needs to clear those limiting belief systems and open a pathway upon which energy can flow smoothly. Then one needs to connect up the energy and power of creation with the energy and power present in all of the other energy centers and integrate it as truth. Then you simply let go. Letting go is a necessary step in manifesting anything. In general, those are the basic steps.


12.Why the use of cards and what role does visual stimulation play in the awakening process?
The first goal in the awakening process is to quiet the chatter of the conscious mind to be able to begin to connect with inner guidance or higher guidance. If you’ve got a microwave, vacuum cleaner, television, radio, and ten cell phone conversations all going on at the same time, it’s hard to hear much of anything except noise. Cards can help in that way by providing an initial basis for centering, grounding, and, most importantly, focus. Visual stimulation plays a big part in this process, by stimulating different parts of the brain and also by activating things on an emotional level. So you could have a person that has read something over and over again and doesn’t understand it; but show the same person a picture or image and all of a sudden it triggers something inside them and they are then able to have complete understanding.

13.As you view your compiled messages, what major themes seem to be playing out in human consciousness?

“The Book of Daily Channeled Messages” is a compilation of messages from angels that I put together last year. I definitely see some major themes. One of these themes that translates very clearly and that is playing out in human consciousness is love. Love is what we need to remember. All of our earthly dramas give us opportunities to remember love. There is absolutely no power in fear. The power is in the love.
