BLACK FRIDAY: ALL THAT'S WRONG

If you want to know why the world is in such a mess, just consider Black Friday. Have you ever heard a an ad like this:

We know it's the holidays and that you all would like to give gifts to loved ones and friends.  The look on a child's face on Christmas morning is priceless. However, please don't buy something that won't last. Don't buy clothing filled with toxic chemicals, or toys laced with lead paint. Just because something is 0.5 seconds faster than the item you already have doesn't mean it's better. Don't buy products that have contributed to global warming, rainforest destruction, or that has been made on the backs of slave labor. Buy natural, buy green. Our landfills are overflowing with the junk from past holidays. Find presents that will get your child to think, that will get them outside the home. And above all, try not to use credit cards. Those bills come due and at a high rate of interest. Can you afford it. Return to the joys of family and being together and not just the idea that you have to spend lots of money for items no one really needs or wants.

No, you will never see such an ad, at least not now. But let's face it, this constant pressure to spend, spend, spend, is not about the spirit of the holidays, it is about corporate profits. It is about rampant consumerism that is destroying the planet and wreaking personal economic havoc.

Give gifts that matter, that will last, that will change the direction of buying patterns forever. Just don't buy crap that does nothing but make the rich even richer. Support the small business that sells quality products. Support the craftsmen and women that put their heart and soul into the things they make.

Above, fill your holiday with gifts that you can't buy: LOVE, PEACE, AND LIGHT. Those are gifts that simply never end up in the trash heap.

IS IRAN PAYING HAMAS TO GET ISRAEL OFF THEIR BACKS?

We know that Hamas used Iranian rockets to strike Tel Aviv and that Iran is supplying arms to Islamic militants. Given that life is a low valued commodity in the Middle East, I believe that Iran is paying Hamas to strike Israel in order to give Iran more time to develop its nuclear capability, or, at least, to further delay any Israeli assault on the Iranian nuclear program. Whatever Israel has to use to defend itself will temporarily deplete some of its defensive munitions and may forestall any near term action against Iran.

It would also not be surprising that arms dealers are fueling the fires as they will gain massive profits from this conflict. Further, if a full blown war erupts, there will be a lot less attention on the global economic crisis, climate change and things like regulatory reforms. Yes, this is a conspiracy theory, but analyze the facts and decode for yourself.

RELIGION Vs. SCIENCE: THE DEBATE IS OVER?

Guest post!

Large swaths of Americans seem to have drastically different views of how humans came to be, according to a June 2012 Gallup poll.
Nearly half of America – 46 percent – agrees with the creationist view that humans are purely the product of God, absent of evolution, within the last 10,000 years. Fifteen percent believe humans evolved independent of God, while the rest believe humans evolved with god guiding the process (http://www.gallup.com/poll/21814/evolution-creationism-intelligent-design.aspx)
These millions of Americans are pitted on two sides of a conflict which has a solution, as described in my new book The Genesis One Code. As an engineering physicist, CEO of the aerospace company known for building the space station’s robotic arm and student of religion I looked for a precise, unequivocal answer. Not good just arguments which hard to prove, but mathematical precision.

The creation-evolution conflict is a recurring point of contention in the United States, from the presidential election to what should be taught in schools.
I show that the religious and scientific wisdoms are two sides of the same coin and can enlighten each other. The reason the debate developed in the first place is because the discoveries of modern science of an old Earth seemed to conflict with descriptions in the Bible of a universe created in 6 days, only thousands of years ago.
The reality is that the Bible and science agree on the timeline for the development of the universe and life on Earth. The Bible is a blue print for the creation. I found the “scale used in the blue print” within the texts, the factor that converts “Creation time” to years as we know them, as measured by scientists. When applied to calculating the age of the universe and life on Earth, the Bible consistently matches scientific estimates derived from the study of fossil timelines, the solar system and the cosmos.
What’s the scale factor?  One creation day is — 1,000 X 365 X 7,000 – years! When those numbers are multiplied, each creation day is an epoch of 2.56 billion years, Using the formula, the biblical age of the universe is 13.74 billion years. Scientific estimates put the universe’s age at 13.75 billion, plus or minus 0.13 billion. Another 18 events described in Genesis, from the age of the sun to when first life appeared, match the scientific dates precisely!
If the Bible and science agree on what happened and when it happened, do we really have a conflict? It is time to reexamine and bury the conflict between science and religion. In fact, the book shows that Genesis has answers to science’s three biggest unanswered questions.
By continuing this false dichotomy of religion vs. science, we are severely limiting progress and our potential as humans.
.
Most of us have pondered our origins at some point in our lives. I am no different, except perhaps that I have both a strong scientific and a religious background.  Thus, when I ponder our origins I not only have to contend with two seemingly very different accounts of our universe; but with the knowledge that both are accurate, at least in terms of what happened and when it happened.  Christians are invited to see science as something that complements ones faith, not to see it as something that contradicts it.  Many Christians affirm God as the Creator and at the same time support the scientific study of creation. They recognize science as a legitimate interpretation of God’s natural world and affirm the validity of the claims of science in describing the natural world and in determining what is scientific. However they preclude science from making authoritative claims about theological issues.

I began my quest with knowledge gained from a basic religious upbringing and a high school science education. Both bodies of knowledge were fascinating, yet appeared incompatible. As I proceeded to obtain a scientific education, I initially came to think that science books answered everything. Yet, by my fourth year at university, some fundamental questions concerning our origins began to re-appear. In science texts, some answers were not available, some answers were strange, and some answers were so metaphysical they looked like religious answers. So, I went back to study religion to find deeper inner meaning. Answers began to appear.
So what did I find?  The Bible and science agree on what happened and when it happened with respect to the development of the universe and the appearance of life on earth.  Not just roughly but precisely.  That’s right! Very old religious documents contain what science has discovered in the past 50 years!
This was so exciting I decided to share my findings in a book,  The Genesis One Code was borne Canada’s leading newspaper describes the book as follows:
The book is engrossing. In it, Friedmann … is persuasive and devoid of insistence. In essence, he argues that, just as a blueprint provides a scale reference to the finished building, there is a mathematical scale that reconciles the events of Genesis to the findings of science.
About Daniel Friedmann
Daniel Friedmann is a student of the origin of the universe and life on earth both from the scientific and biblical perspectives. He is also a longtime student of religion and for the past 14 years has attended the Vancouver Kollel center for learning.  He is passionate about helping young adults put science and the Bible in correct context.Daniel Friedmann is currently CEO of Canada’s leading aerospace company which built the Canadarms, and is involved in space exploration and the Hubble telescope. "You can't have your pudding, if you don't..."

... eat your meat." Love Pink Floyd. Thank the gods we no longer have to listen to the verbal onslaughts of political commercials. But here's the thing, will anything change? Is there a new mandate. Let's see, Obama is President, the House is controlled by the GOP, and the Senate is in the hands of the Democrats. Sounds familiar.

There is one mandate, the TEA PARTY seems to have been bagged and thrown into Boston Harbor. However, clearly, all of the problems that existed on November 5th exist on November 7th. World economies are a mess. The environment is a boiling cauldron. Major disasters will continue to demand ever dwindling public resources. The droughts, floods, severe storms are not going away. Tectonic plates are rumbling below, and cosmic radiation is raining down from above. The rich are getting richer and the poor are poorer.

If there is to be a new mandate, it must come from you, the people. The problem is that we want the pudding, but don't want to eat the meat.

-We want a cleaner environment, but we want cheap gas.
-We want safe products, but we want cheap products.
-We want jobs, but we want less government and fewer public employees.
-We want to be protected from bad business practices and toxic products, but we want fewer regulations.
-We want services, but don't want to pay for them.
-We want to bring our troops home, but we don't have any real understanding why we are even bothering with places like Afghanistan.
-We want quality education for our kids, but we fire our teachers.
-We want to be protected, but we lay off our police and firemen.
-We want to protect the environment, but we want our beach front property and build in areas prone to disaster.

The list goes on and on. We want the pudding of life but we are unwilling to change our lives so that our actions benefit all and harm none. If we want a new mandate, it will be up to you to send the White House and Congress a clear message When we, as a nation, have resolve, we accomplish great things. From WWI, WWII, to the space race, technology development and solving problems, when we stand united, we are unstoppable. But, when we falter, when we are divided, we fail ourselves and the world.

We are out of time. If we do not unite for a common purpose to basically save our place on this planet: "A nation divided shall perish."

VOTING: HOW TO DECIDE

We are all sick of the ads and the rhetoric. We are sick of the billions of dollars (just think of better ways this money could have been used) spent to convince, cajole, deceive, prod, scare and entice us to vote a certain way.

So how do you decide if there is any uncertainty in your decision making?

When you enter the booth, take a deep breath, close your eyes and ask yourself questions like this:

-Who will be best for the future of the country and the world?
-Who seems to have more compassion and empathy for the plight of others?
-Whose intentions appear to be most peaceful, yet also willing to stick to fundamental principles of human rights and respect for others?
-Which candidate garners your trust, has been consistent in their message, and not altered their message to the audience?
- Which candidate do you feel will at least try to leave the world a better place; recognizes the changing climate and environment; and really cares about creating a world that will protect the health and safety of you, your family, and the planet?

After you've thought about these questions for a few moments, start pulling the lever, let intuition be your guide. Don't second guess your choice, follow your heart.

ABOVE ALL ELSE, VOTE, DON'T PUT YOUR:

LIVING IN 'EPIC' TIMES

When thinking of the word 'epic,' several parts of its definition come to mind. Traditionally, an epic is defined as a long narrative poem, or other work of literature, that tell a tale of a historic, heroic, or legendary event or character. The Greek, Homer, always comes to mind. Characteristics of an epic include: large-scale, big, major, important, historical.

So, when we say that Hurricane Sandy was 'epic,' we mean it was big and important and of historical proportions. We live in EPIC times. It may not be correct to view an entire segment of history as epic, but it is nonetheless true. There is little of these times that is not epic. We have epic storms; epic droughts; epic floods; epic snow falls, epic heat, cold; epic economic problems; epic glacial, arctic ice melt; epic earthquakes; even epic political issues and fights. Very little in life is what we once called normal. In fact, we have epic abnormality.

What is curious is that so few seem to see the, to make up a word, epicity of the times. Is society so conditioned, so asleep from years of advertising and what amounts to brainwashing, into believing that all is 'normal' or will return to normality? This type sleepiness has often changed the course of history.  The Natives slept as the Pilgrims landed. Kings slept as the peasants fomented revolution; the religious sleep to slavery and genocide; Europe slept as Adolf planned and schemed; the masses sleep as their planet is plundered for profit.

With so many 'epic' things going on, how can anyone still be sleeping? As the song said, "How can we sleep while our beds are burning?" Is the opiate of 'things' so strong that we are unable to rise from the slumber?

Perhaps it is a kind demise. To die while asleep is said to be painless. To sleep, perchance to dream of what might have been, if we but paid attention to the epic story unfolding.

GUEST POST: The Fear and Anxiety Solution

 GUEST POST

There is personal fear and anxiety and societal fear and anxiety, obviously the two intertwine. How do people deal with the current fears and anxiety over the economy, climate change, political chaos, and forecasts that there may be economic and environmental collapse?

The fears over the economy, the election or state of planet earth could be summarized as “the fears of losing something of value,” such as security, trust and our environment. However, underneath the fear of losing something that’s important to us often lingers a greater fear: ”the fear of losing control and being powerless.” This deep-seated fear can lead to a vicious cycle, causing us to believe that hyper-vigilance, micromanaging, and even obsessive thinking are the only way to maintain some sense of power and control when, in actuality, it is fear and anxiety that control our lives.
Although our external world may appear often out of our control, we have all the power of choice inside of us. We may feel forced to within life in circumstances that are determined by others; however, we can still choose our thoughts, our perspectives, and even our emotions. The Fear and Anxiety Solution makes this choice easier by providing a step-by-step process to transform these often overwhelming emotions into catalysts of growth and empowerment.
As we feel more calm, centered and confident, we are able to recognize both: that we can make a difference in our immediate environment, for example by budgeting, recycling, educating others or going to vote. And that we have the inner resources to handle anything that comes our way.
After all the opposite of feeling out of control isn’t being in control. The opposite is to trust and be at peace.

How Our Subconscious Scares Us
You’re in a hurry, and of course your keys are hiding again. You look for them everywhere, becoming increasingly anxious. Finally you discover them right where you always put them. Hadn’t you checked there before at least twice?
Or maybe you’re on your way to an interview. You feel good until you notice that mustard stain on your shirt. All your confidence slips away, and you start to panic. You’re sure that you will make a terrible impression, because all the interviewer will notice about you is that stain—just as you do.
Why is it that you can’t see certain things you want to (your keys), whereas other things you want to ignore (mustard) are all you can focus on?
Every second of our lives, we’re surrounded by an incomprehensible amount of information. As I mentioned before, we need to filter out a large portion to make sense of the world and not become completely fried. But how do we distinguish the tiny fraction of information that is relevant from all the remaining input that needs to be ignored? If we tried to make these distinctions consciously, we wouldn’t be able to do anything else. Literally all our focus and energy would be devoted to deciphering and sorting every single detail in and around us. This is where our subconscious mind comes in and employs specific filters to separate what it perceives to be important for us.
In a study conducted at Columbia University in New York, volunteers were shown pictures of random people with neutral expressions. The researchers also displayed random images of people with fearful expressions. The images with the fearful faces appeared and disappeared so quickly that the volunteers weren’t consciously aware of them. However, functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) scans—which measure changes in blood flow—clearly demonstrated that the brain had registered the fearful faces, even though the subjects denied seeing them.1 This study shows that our subconscious not only filters and processes information, it is also able to perceive external input much more quickly and in more subtle forms than the conscious mind can.
Subconscious filters consist of memories, emotions, inner conflicts, and beliefs. They delete, distort, and generalize information that passes through them and leave us with a condensed and altered version of all that surrounds us—an internal interpretation of reality. Since most people are not consciously aware of their subconscious filters, they’re also unaware that their view of the world is basically just “made up.” Which also means that whatever you think you are is just a fraction of the truth.
Why does your subconscious make you overlook the keys you are desperately searching for and magnify the mustard stain you don’t want to see? Well, in both cases the subconscious mind is on a mission to protect you. By activating the anxiety response, you’re being prepared for the negative consequences of being late, which could be embarrassment, criticism, or rejection. As your subconscious shifts your awareness from the present to a possibly unpleasant future, most of the available information of your surroundings (your keys) gets deleted. The same intention, to keep you safe, is also true for the mustard stain on your shirt. Your subconscious distorts and blows up the stain to get you ready for the judgment and rejection that might await you. Logically, you need to concentrate on what is right in front of you—finding the keys or focusing on the agenda of your meeting; however, subconsciously, you’re already bracing yourself for the worst.
Your response to situations like these depends on the fabric of your subconscious filters. Your fear and anxiety filters dictate how you interpret the danger or safety of your reality. The more prominent these subconscious anxiety filters are, the faster and stronger you react to potential peril such as misplacing your keys or staining your shirt. Your reaction creates more stress, which in turn increases your chance of overlooking your keys and spilling more food.
So it makes sense that to break through these emotions and their ensuing behavioral patterns, you need to consciously remove and replace these subconscious filters. Removing the filters doesn’t mean you will permanently turn off or even dismantle the anxiety switch. As I said before, fear and anxiety are normal and important parts of life. You don’t want to abolish your ability to create these feelings, because they provide you with valuable information and are powerful catalysts for continuous growth and self-empowerment. But what if you could convert the anxiety switch into a dimmer switch—one you learn how to operate with increasing proficiency?

HOW CAN THIS BE?

How is it possible that climate change did not become a major topic in the presidential debate?

With droughts and floods threatening the world's food supply; the death of the oceans from acidification; the; the 6th great extinction in progress due largely to human destruction of the environment; hundreds of birds falling from the skies and fish washing up on our shores; lakes turning toxic and into death chambers for fish and animals; diseases resulting from air pollution that add to temperature rise; the shifting of the Jet Stream and Pacific Westerlies; the polar meltdown; just to name a few, how can this not be the topic of the day?

Over the next few years, if we last that long, climate change will be the defining topic regarding national security. It will require massive investments to aid climate refugees; massive expenditures to save or even relocate major cities; could result in wars over things like water and agricultural lands; will and has required massive public resources to help those who have suffered from droughts, floods, and sever weather.

THIS IS A MAJOR POLITICAL FAIL.

Our politicians have failed to help save humanity from the current extinction trends. We are out of time and will reap what we have sown. The best we can hope for, as recommended in several major studies, is to plan for coping with effects. But, if our leaders won't talk about the issue, perhaps they have thrown the sheep to the wolves. Why are they silent? Do they know something that we don't? Are they afraid of mass panic?

THE NOT AS GOOD AS WE THOUGHT BUT COULD BE MUCH WORSE ELECTION

Hopefully, all eligible voters will soon be heading to the polls to choose a U.S. president and to vote for those seeking congressional seats. Here's my take. When Obama was elected there was a sense of almost Camelot euphoria. Big changes were supposed to come in every aspect of society. Many of these changes never really materialized. In fact, numerous key issues regarding the environment and climate change didn't even get discussed. Perhaps this is what Obama meant when he said that you can't change the system from within. In other words, there are too many interests with too much power to create any real change once you get in the system. This is a form of forced co-option. No matter who sits in the oval office, they do not have the power most think they have. Money still reigns supreme in American politics. The inner system eats you up and uses you for their purposes, allowing only scant free reign to accomplish your own agenda. No matter the president, these forces are ever present.

Granted, the President faced an antagonistic House. At every turn, efforts at change were blocked or amended  in such a way as to render reform meaningless. If there is ever to be true change, it must come not from with the political system, but from without. In other words, the people must require that change occur. They must use their votes, their consumer dollars and information to expose the dangers and peacefully force a change. In other words, we are responsible for what our government does or doesn't do. If the President used the office to expose the way the system really works to rally the people, things might be different. Although, that path can be dangerous-shades of JFK.

However, while power, until we wake up, will remain in the hands of monied interests regardless of who is elected, there is still a choice. That choice rests in the fundamental philosophies of the candidates.  These choices include:

  • Under Obama, there will be a hesitancy to pull the trigger or drop the bomb. Not so much so under Romney.
  • Obama at least is making an attempt to have some form of universal health care. Romney will sell your health to the lowest bidder.
  • Obama understands the importance of education and public schools. Romney would segregate the rich back into private charter schools like the good old days of the 18th and 19th centuries.
  • There might be some discussion of alternative energy and climate change with Obama. With Romney oil and coal producers will get free rein to continue to ravage and rape the planet.
  • The middle class has a fighting chance under Obama. Romney will sacrifice the middle class to aid the rich.
  • Obama has a genuine concern, although not through actions, for the poor. Romney has no use for the poor.
  • More truth from Obama; less truth from Romney.
  • More consistency from Obama; Romney, whichever the money blows.
  • Obama has heart and soul; Romney has soul but little heart.
  • Obama has a greater intellect than Romney and thinks things out more than Romney.
  • Obama has empathy and sympathy. For Romney, sympathy can be found under 'S' in the dictionary.
  • Both have ties to the wealthy and neither seem able or willing to stand up to big money. However, Romney is deeper into the club.
Something to consider is that most issues are now global. Climate change, economies, terrorists, environmental collapse, etc. will not be solved by either Obama or Romney. So many tipping points have been reached and we, the planet, is in big trouble. We will soon be looking at much "gnashing of teeth." When it all begins to crash, I guess I just trust Obama to help put it together than I ever would Romney who would probably try to restore the monarchy.

A POST ON CLIMATE CHANGE YOU NEED TO READ

http://thinkprogress.org/climate/2012/10/14/1009121/science-of-global-warming-impacts-guide/

"In this post, I will summarize what the recent scientific literature says are the key impacts we face in the coming decades if we stay anywhere near our current emissions path. These include:
  • Staggeringly high temperature rise, especially over land — some 10°F over much of the United States
  • Permanent Dust Bowl conditions over the U.S. Southwest and many other regions around the globe that are heavily populated and/or heavily farmed.
  • Sea level rise of some 1 foot by 2050, then 4 to 6 feet (or more) by 2100, rising some 6 to 12 inches (or more) each decade thereafter
  • Massive species loss on land and sea — perhaps 50% or more of all biodiversity.
  • Unexpected impacts — the fearsome “unknown unknowns”
  • Much more extreme weather
  • Food insecurity — the increasing difficulty of feeding 7 billion, then 8 billion, and then 9 billion people in a world with an ever-worsening climate.
  • Myriad direct health impacts"
A fact filled report that should make you scared and spur you to action. This is not a drill!

ISLAMIC MILITANTS: AN OXYMORON

I'm sure most have read or heard of this story:

PESHAWAR, Pakistan (Reuters) - Pakistani surgeons removed a bullet on Wednesday from a 14-year-old girl shot by the Taliban for speaking out against the militants and promoting education for girls, doctors said.
Malala Yousufzai was in critical condition after gunmen shot her in the head and neck on Tuesday as she left school. Two other girls were also wounded.

The Taliban, called Islamist militants, claim the shooting. One must ask: "Can there be such a thing as an Islamist militant? A Christian soldier? A Buddhist warrior? If you are a true follower of your prophets, this can not be. Pure and simple, such people are thugs, bullies and murderers hiding under the guise or religion to perpetuate their killing ways.

Prayers of healing to Malala!

The Henry Waxman and Edward Markey Report

How much time do you really think we have?

http://thinkprogress.org/climate/2012/09/25/907371/markeywaxman-report-carbon-pollution-creating-a-cocktail-of-heat-and-extreme-weather/

Extreme temperatures
  • July was the hottest month ever recorded in the continental U.S.  Some areas were 8 degrees warmer than average, with the average temperature in the lower 48 states at 77.6 degrees Fahrenheit, 3.3 degrees above the 20th century average.
  • Spring 2012 saw the warmest march, third-warmest April and second-warmest May in history, and was approximately 5.2 degrees Fahrenheit above average overall.
  • Through late June 2011, daily record highs were outnumbering daily record lows by 9-to-1.
Drought
  • As of September, 64 percent of the continental U.S. is experiencing drought, with August and September 2012 comparable to the worst months of the 1930s Dust Bowl.
  • By the beginning of August, more than half the counties in the U.S. had been designated disaster zones because of drought.
  • As of August, 51 percent of corn and 38 percent of soybeans grown in the U.S. were rated as poor or very poor by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Some states’ corn fared worse – Indiana had 70 percent of its corn rated as poor or very poor, and Missouri had 84 percent.
Wildfires

  • This fire season 8.6 million acres – roughly the size of Connecticut and New Jersey combined – have burned in the U.S., with fires still burning in parts of the West.
  • Wildfires in Colorado have killed six people, destroyed 600 homes and caused about $500 million in property damage.
  • There has been nearly a four-fold increase in large wildfires in the West in recent decades, with fires burning longer and more intensely and wildfire seasons lasting longer.
Storms
  • Tropical Storm Debby caused Florida to have its wettest June on record. The storm killed at least seven people and also damaged more than 7,500 homes and businesses.
  • In July, the “derecho” storm system killed at least 23 people and left more than 3.7 million people without power.
  • In August, Hurricane Isaac caused storm surges of up to 15 feet in some places and contributed to Louisiana and Mississippi experiencing their second-wettest August on record and to Florida experiencing its wettest summer on record.
Extreme water levels and water temperatures
  • In July, water in the Great Lakes reached temperatures of 60 and 65 degrees Fahrenheit – more than 10 degrees warmer than the same time last year.
  • In August, water temperatures of up to 97 degrees and low water levels caused tens of thousands of fish to die in Midwestern lakes and rivers.
  • Low water levels in the Mississippi watershed have caused some barge companies to reduce their loads by 25 percent and have caused harbor closures in Tennessee, Missouri, Arkansas and Mississippi.

SOME KUDOS FOR LIBYAN PEOPLE

You may have seen this story in the Huffington Post:

Libya Embassy Attack: Libyan President Orders 'Illegitimate' Militias Disbanding

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/09/23/libya-embassy-attack_n_1907252.html?utm_hp_ref=world

But perhaps of greater importance is the following:

"The assault on the U.S. mission in Benghazi, which left Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans dead, has sparked an angry backlash among many Libyans against the myriad of armed factions that continue to run rampant across the nation nearly a year after the end of the country's civil war.
On Friday, residents of Benghazi – the cradle of the Libyan revolution last year that toppled dictator Moammar Gadhafi – staged a mass demonstration against the militias before storming the compounds of several armed groups in the city in an unprecedented protest to demand the militias dissolve."

Here we have the average citizen, REAL MUSLIMS, saying no to violence. One Muslim business leader on NPR said that the killing of innocent people is much more of an affront to Islam than "any video or silly cartoon." Clearly a voice of reason and clearly one who follows the teachings and not radicals seeking to create and spread hate and fear.

Thank you people of Benghazi!

INNOCENCE LOST

Sam Harris has some definite views on religion and what follows are an excerpt from his recent blog article, Freedom to Offend an Imaginary God.

 http://www.samharris.org/blog/item/on-the-freedom-to-offend-an-imaginary-god

The latest wave of Muslim hysteria and violence has now spread to over twenty countries. The walls of our embassies and consulates have been breached, their precincts abandoned to triumphant mobs, and many people have been murdered—all in response to an unwatchable Internet video titled “Innocence of Muslims.” Whether over a film, a cartoon, a novel, a beauty pageant, or an inauspiciously named teddy bear, the coming eruption of pious rage is now as predictable as the dawn. This is already an old and boring story about old, boring, and deadly ideas. And I fear it will be with us for the rest of our lives.

Consider what is actually happening: Some percentage of the world’s Muslims—Five percent? Fifteen? Fifty? It’s not yet clear—is demanding that all non-Muslims conform to the strictures of Islamic law. And where they do not immediately resort to violence in their protests, they threaten it. Carrying a sign that reads “Behead Those Who Insult the Prophet” may still count as an example of peaceful protest, but it is also an assurance that infidel blood would be shed if the imbecile holding the placard only had more power. This grotesque promise is, of course, fulfilled in nearly every Muslim society. To make a film like “Innocence of Muslims” anywhere in the Middle East would be as sure a method of suicide as the laws of physics allow.

What exactly was in the film? Who made it? What were their motives? Was Muhammad really depicted? Was that a Qur’an burning, or some other book? Questions of this kind are obscene. Here is where the line must be drawn and defended without apology: We are free to burn the Qur’an or any other book, and to criticize Muhammad or any other human being. Let no one forget it.

Religion only works as a pretext for political violence because many millions of people actually believe what they say they believe: that imaginary crimes like blasphemy and apostasy are killing offenses.

The freedom to think out loud on certain topics, without fear of being hounded into hiding or killed, has already been lost. And the only forces on earth that can recover it are strong, secular governments that will face down charges of blasphemy with scorn. No apologies necessary. Muslims must learn that if they make belligerent and fanatical claims upon the tolerance of free societies, they will meet the limits of that tolerance.

I have to agree with the above statements. Freedom of thought and expression, even if in poor taste, is a fundamental freedom that needs preserving.I do draw a line at hate speech, but criticizing a religion does not fall in that category. In my WAKING GOD TRILOGY, much is said regarding religious dogma and its historic, and current, destructiveness.  These books did not start riots even though there is much criticism of religion and one of the heroes in the novels is Lucifer. Just as Christianity should be faulted for the Inquisition and the crusades, no religion, including Islam, can justify the use of force to prevent criticism. That should be a no brainer that fundamentalists and hard-liners obviously don't get. You can't protect teachings by violating the teachings. The ends do not justify the means. Efforts in the Muslim world to further outlaw blasphemy is not acceptable. Are they so insecure in their faith that violence must be used to fend of anything offensive? Their ideas are a return to the intellectual dark ages and their arguments are based in ignorance.

So yes, Muslims must learn that if they make belligerent and fanatical claims upon the tolerance of free societies, they will meet the limits of that tolerance.

HOW SIDDHARTHA GOT HIS BUDDHA ON

We are sometimes led to believe that those who desire to create a new reality using the Law of Attraction must be immune from the world around them. You must live in an ivory tower and pay no attention to the trials and tribulations behind the curtain. This is not true as it is through the darkness that we learn to see the Light. Siddhartha is a prime example. As you can see from the story below, if Siddhartha had followed the advice of his father and remained blind to the world, there would have been no Buddha. But the lesson of his life points another key element to enlightenment. While Buddha had to see and experience the troubles and atrocities of the world, he did not get caught up with them. It is as if he said, "I have seen what is wrong, and that is not me. I will find the path that will free all from their suffering" In this way, he did not start a war on poverty; start a revolution against the elite; or deny through 'positive thinking' that these issues even existed. What he did is to say, "This is not me. This is not the way to live, so I choose a different path; a path of freedom for all to follow.

No great avatar separated themselves from their brothers and sisters. They obserserved their problems, empathized, and then found the way out. They never stayed on the 'mountain' in the hopes that they could 'wish' the troubles of the world away. They were in, but not of this world. The greatest lessons of wisdom arise from the darkness. In fact, in the beginning, "the darkness was upon the face of the deep...and the light was "divided from the darkness." In order to know what you want, you must first see what you don't want. So yes, see the troubles in the world and learn from them. But, don't become a part of them. Find the path that will set you free!

God Was The First Notan Artist

How Siddhartha Gautama Became the "Buddha"

Siddhartha Gautama lived in northern India in the 6th century C.E. He was born into a Hindu family of the ruling caste. Ancient Buddhist texts record slightly different stories about his life and how he became a "Buddha" or "enlightened one." Here is the most common version.
Siddhartha was about 5 days old when his father called a group of priests together for a feast. He asked them about the infant's future. They prophesied that the infant would either become a great king or a great sage. The father preferred his son to become a great king, so he structured his son's life such that he never had to face any of the hardship or struggles of life.
Why?
Because in the Hindu tradition of the time (which you can read about here), those who became holy men or sages followed a path of renunciation. At a certain point in their lives, they would renounce what was called "householder" life - a life of marriage, family, work, etc. - and go live in the forest where they spent the rest of their lives in study, meditation and other spiritual practices.
Siddhartha's father did not want his son to become one of these renouncers, so he made sure his son's life was as perfect as possible, offering everything wonderful and nothing negative or upsetting. The father made sure his son was shielded from anything that would make him want to leave the kingdom. One day, as Siddhartha was touring a park area of the kingdom, he saw four things that changed his life. First, he saw a sick person. He had never seen a sick person before and was shocked at the sight. Next, he saw an old person, someone stooped over and suffering the effects of old age. Again, he was shocked for he'd never seen this suffering before. Then, he saw a corpse! He'd certainly never seen a dead person before, nor did he even really understand the reality of death. His father had kept him sheltered from all these things, particularly death.
Finally, he saw a sage or holy man walking up the path. The sage passed by the sick person, the old person and the corpse - and as he did so, his face and demeanor was filled with compassion, peacefulness and joy.
Siddhartha at that moment recognized for the first time the profound suffering that even the best of lives involves. He resolved to be like the sage, who in the midst of sickness, old age and death could still live a life of compassion, peacefulness and joy.
So, he returned to the palace and made plans to renounce the kingdom and his life, and to wander into the forest to seek enlightenment. (http://www.world-religions-professor.com/siddhartha.html)

"... celebrities should find more worthy causes to fight for."

PLEASE DON'T CLUB ME TO DEATH!

This comment was made by Canadian Liberal leader Bob Rae to Bill Maher as he complained about all the celebrities give to Canada's baby seal hunt. You know, the one where they club the babies to death in front of their mothers! Here's the link to the article: http://www.huffingtonpost.ca/2012/07/17/bob-rae-bill-maher-seal-hunt_n_1680367.html?utm_hp_ref=tw

Yes, this has gone on for a long time, as has killing baby calves for veal and lambs to appease god for Easter dinner, but it certainly doesn't make it right. In fact, isn't it time we stop this barbaric practice of slaughtering baby animals when, in fact, it is totally unnecessary? Have we not evolved beyond the need for senseless slaughter? So keep it up Bill and all you celebs because in fact, there is no worthier cause. And Mr. Bob, go %^&#@ yourself!

TRICKLE DOWN DISASTER

If "no news is good news," then all of the recent economic news must be.... And, in fact it is bad news. We have at least 16 banks under investigation over the Libor scandal-basically, banks price fixing interest rates, to communities going bankrupt, EU economic meltdown, slow job growth, slowdowns in China, blah, blah, blah.

This all started with e 2008 bank meltdown and subsequent bailouts along with their raising interest rate to consumers, failure to make loans and unwillingness to re-write mortgages. Of course, this is all still going on. However, to most, the problem seemed aloof, a drama playing out on Wall Street, a place far removed from reality. But lately things have really begun to 'trickle' down to Joe Big Mac. Salaries cut to minimum wage for police, firemen, etc; tax increases, loss of benefits, people fighting to destroy any hope of quality health care, fear over fights regarding social security, and folks now turning back to credit cards to make ends meet.

Yes, we now have trickle down disaster. My question is, why is it that wealth won't trickle down, but disasters do?

HONOR HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH MURDER

Taliban Execute Woman Accused Of Adultery, Officials Say

"Allah warns us not to get close to adultery because it's the wrong way," another man says as the shooter gets closer to the woman. "It is the order of Allah that she be executed". These people are insane. God has nothing to do with such cowardly, heinous and brutal acts!

Here is another interesting story:

"Hundreds of schoolgirls have been wailing, vomiting and fainting in northern Afghanistan over the past few months.
No one has died from the mysterious illness and most recover within a day or two. This is the fourth straight year the illness has afflicted Afghan girls in the northern provinces although there has been a dramatic spike in 2012 — 858 cases reported in the first five months alone compared to 119 last year.
The provincial governments and Kabul say the girls are being poisoned by the Taliban, or Pakistani spies, because they are attending school — something that was forbidden during the Taliban rule in the 1990s." (http://www.thestar.com/news/world/article/1222990--afghan-schoolgirls-mystery-sickness-poison-or-mass-hysteria) Officials are calling this mass hysteria, not poisoning. Even if this were true, is the cause not in the terror of the Taliban?

Some say that this whole attitude od keeping woman in line is a part of their culture. Hoe ignorant. That would be like saying what the KKK did is okay because it was part of our southern culture. Or, don't faukt the Nazis, it was just a cultural thing to mass exterminate the Jews.

Sorry, where the culture condones rape and brutality, there is no culture; just a bunch of cowards and macho asses.

PERSONAL BRANDING?

Personal Branding – You Can Tell This “Book” by Its Cover By Dr. T. William Hefferan Personal branding includes how you present yourself to others -- your actual visual presentation – anything and everything that someone will see when they meet you. On the other end of the continuum of personal branding ingredients is the “image” you want to present to people whether in person or otherwise. It’s the whole package you call you; the real you. In his article in Fast Company Magazine, December 1997, Tom Peters brought personal branding to life. The personal branding “industry” has grown considerably since then including many experts who have written excellent books on the subject. What I present here is an overview as I see personal branding in relationship to employment. In my book, JOBS, I devote a chapter to personal branding in which I recommend many of these authors and their books. Product branding came first as a marketing mainstay for companies who want their product to be indelibly imprinted, even subconsciously, in the minds of all consumers. Personal branding takes on some of the qualities of its older sister but has some distinct differences – it’s selling people -- who change over time, and a personal brand had better be 100% accurate! Employers want more than just the typical two page resume. They want to be able to feel they “know” the person behind the bland resume. What are your in-depth qualities and work passions? What personal and professional attributes will morph into huge benefits for the prospective employer and how? How will you fit in with the culture of the company? What do people need to know about you to know who you really are? What’s so special about you – what sets you apart? Unlike product branding where exaggeration is commonplace, personal branding has to be authentic. Think of it this way, if your personal branding communication includes any implications that your training is something it is not, remember, you may be showing up on Monday morning expected to perform brain surgery when you actually drove an ambulance for two weeks! In my book, I call this honesty requirement the EMBER Model of Ethics and Authenticity. EMBER refers to the process in which employees and employers establish a mutually beneficial and rewarding employment relationship. Many using self-promotion may not effectively communicate the true self that includes the passion an applicant might have for a job. However, effective personal branding strategy adds personal communications regarding the true self to the traditional concept of self-promotion. Online social networking complicates personal branding even more. How can you maintain a certain professional image – your brand – when you want to relax and let down your guard? Sure, we all act differently when we are in a meeting with our boss, compared with those times we are with friends. Many exhibit different personalities with each website they use. But the core you is still present and needs to be consistent, within reason. Personal branding has to be authentic. It also has to leave room to grow and change as you and your philosophies change. Personal branding is a bit more complex than first meets the eye. But when it works, it works. A primary goal for individuals participating in social networking is that they expand personal and business contacts through personal communications online. In the process, these individuals can create friendships with these contacts. This is a direct result of effective personal branding strategies. Given that there are about 7 billion people on the planet, how can we all be different with our own unique personal brand? When you look at the entire “package” – your personal brand image -- we all have distinct qualities. Think of it this way, as an employee, wouldn’t you love to land your perfect dream job? As an employer, wouldn’t you love to hire only the absolutely perfect employees for the job? In its purest ideal form, that’s the story personal branding can provide us. DAS PLAN!

I have been trying ti figure out why the rating agencies have been screwing over nations and, supposedly, banks. Just what is DAS PLAN? I think this is a major part of it. If you look at the news, Greece, Italy, Spain, and even cities and states in the U.S. are being forced to 'privatize everything from roads to prisons. So who benefits from all the downgrades? Who makes money? It all circles back to WALL STREET. Any thoughts?

SOME EU ECONOMIC NEWS AND CONCERNS+

BBC News - Brussels plans EU-wide banking union from 2013 http://bbc.in/LhyTsf -
"A single regulator to oversee banks across all 27 European Union states could be in place as early as 2013 according to the European Commission.
A controversial new bank bailout fund financed by a tax on financial institutions is also planned.
The proposal includes an EU-wide deposit guarantee scheme to protect savers in the event of a bank collapse."
The above seems to be a great way to consolidate economic power in the hands of the few oligarchs who already call most of the shots in the world. This New World Economic Order comes on the heels of a disaster that it created, perhaps for this very purpose.

DISASTER MANAGEMENT Study predicts imminent irreversible planetary collapse

This is an important story that needs constant repeating. Time is not on your side!
http://www.terradaily.com/reports/Study_predicts_imminent_irreversible_planetary_collapse_999.html

Using scientific theories, toy ecosystem modeling and paleontological evidence as a crystal ball, 18 scientists, including one from Simon Fraser University, predict we're on a much worse collision course with Mother Nature than currently thought. In Approaching a state-shift in Earth's biosphere, a paper just published in Nature, the authors, whose expertise span a multitude of disciplines, suggest our planet's ecosystems are careening towards an imminent, irreversible collapse.
Earth's accelerating loss of biodiversity, its climates' increasingly extreme fluctuations, its ecosystems' growing connectedness and its radically changing total energy budget are precursors to reaching a planetary state threshold or tipping point.

AND THIS INTERESTING COMMENT: Planet behind the sun is known as 'planet vulcan theory' -- if nibiru shows up, i believe it will either be THAT, or a return to Saturnia regna, see a video called 'symbols of an alien sky' - its a long video but worth it.

DANGER, DANGER-RADIOACTIVE FOOD!!

Here the deal folks, radiation from Fukushima is in the food chain in the West Coast which means you are probably eating it in your milk, fruit and vegetables. Keep in mind that California is having big budget issues so my guess is that they don't want to damage the economy and make matters worse. Also, since when does anyone put public health over $$$$. Do the research-Google  'cesium in California food 2012' and decide for your self-and your family.

"We also have samples that indicate in Southern California, we have one sample that also picked up cesium in cedar pollen [...] We did have someone send us cedar samples that did indicate in South California that we had picked up both cesium-137 and cesium-134. When you find them both together that’s a Fukushima signature." http://dprogram.net/2012/04/20/gundersen-cesium-134-and-137-detected-in-southern-california-pollen-sample/

Strawberries, mushrooms with Cesium-137 found in Northern California; 5 of 6 items in food chain sampling test have radioactive particles

Radio: Cesium all the way down US West Coast; Pine needles from So. California; Ground samples from Vancouver and Oregon — Not a lot, my biggest concern is bioaccumulation as it works up food chain (AUDIO)

Radioactive Iodine from Fukushima Found in California Kelp

Radiation detectable in seafood/crops from cesium 134

The testing can determine if there is recent exposure, bioabsorption of cesium 134, as I understand it Yes the iodine would be gone but tissue would still probably have cesium in it.
The Radiation and Public Health Project tested lobsters from Long Island Sound and found Lobsters were FULL of strontium 90 (at levels equivalent to the amounts found children's teeth at Chernobyl) in their SOFT tissues.
Polar bears and seals are sick and dying in the arctic from hair loss and skin lesions.
Why is there no new testing by BRAWM???
Testing for cesium 134 and strontium 90 would answer some of these questions. YES there was already cesium 137 in the food chain from previous years, but cesium 134 (unless I am reversing the two) can only be recent.

LONG BEACH, Calif. – Kelp off Southern California was contaminated with short-lived radioisotopes a month after Japan’s Fukushima accident, a sign that the spilled radiation reached the state’s urban coastline, according to a new scientific study.
Scientists from California State University, Long Beach tested giant kelp collected in the ocean off Orange County and other locations after the March, 2011 accident, and detected radioactive iodine, which was released from the damaged nuclear reactor.

TOO IMPORTANT NOT TO RE-POST

Posted: 21 May 2012 12:22 PM PDT

In the first week after Fukushima, this physicist genius called for a massive international effort to bury the entire nuclear complex to protect as much as possible the human race from nuclear contamination. Dr. Michio Kaku said early on that “Tepco utility people are outclassed and overwhelmed and should be removed from their positions and that we would see increases in leukemias and thyroid cancers from the massive amounts of radioactive iodine being released.”
Now he is weighing in with the threat from the spent-fuel pool in reactor building No. 4 in focus saying, “People don’t realize that the Fukushima reactor is on a knife’s edge; it’s near the tipping point. A small earthquake, another pipe break, another explosion could tip it over and we could have a disaster much worse, many times worse than Chernobyl. It’s like a sleeping dragon.”
Kaku explains that just in the last few weeks it has been reported to some degree that Units 2, 3 and 4 have been shown to be in a very dire situation. Unit 2 is completely liquefied, something that’s never been seen in the history of nuclear power, a 100% liquefaction of a uranium core. Unit 4, on the other hand, has an even worse problem as it’s a spent-fuel pond that is totally uncovered because of a hydrogen explosion that took place last year.
The issue of planetary contamination is more important than the economic crisis the media is covering, which threatens to go into its own kind of meltdown. Economies grow and collapse as civilizations rise and fall. There have always been the good times when life is sweet and the bad times when human savages must have their wars or when Nature decides to have her way with us or when the elite bankers’ monetary games run through their cycles.
What are our chances of this nuclear nightmare going away?
Things are so bad at Fukushima that, “Humans cannot come close to certain parts of the reactor site and even robots get fried. They’re delicate machinery; their micro-circuitry cannot withstand the intense bombardment of radiation,” reports Kaku.
And yesterday, Sunday the 20th, we read:
6.0 magnitude earthquake strikes off the coast of Japan
While all of this is happening the controlled media is silent. They prefer to let us know about snakes in Walmart rather than about the terrible threat from Japan and from all other nuclear power stations that have been built on top of fault lines, which are now being threatened with increasing seismic activity. So many of the world’s reactors have been built on fault lines—you really have to start wondering about the intelligence of the human race.
This media silence is a devastating one—so much so that if described properly it would curdle one’s soul. It is so disgusting that the only image that compares is the Nazi gas chamber, but this one is big enough for 40 million people. The elite are allowing the people of Tokyo’s greater metropolis area to fry their cells in a nuclear inferno. Well, “where are they going to go anyway?” is no excuse for not informing us accurately on what we have to weather in terms of nuclear contamination.
This mysterious black substance five times more radioactive than the Chernobyl-Belarus mandatory evacuation zone was discovered four kilometers from the center of Tokyo, the Hirai Station. At the same time we see that cesium in Fukushima prefecture is 122 times higher than in Belarus evacuation zone. The Fukushima Diary reported on Sunday (May 20, 2012) that Koichi Oyama, a member of the city council of Minamisoma in the prefecture of Fukushima, has measured unusually high levels of cesium 134 and 137 in the soil of his city.

We were in trouble anyway

Without enough money, the nuclear industry will destroy the human race because there is no way on this side of the Milky Way they can store nuclear waste and no way to mothball old nuclear reactors. Chernobyl already needs a new protection building that will easily cost one or two billion dollars—money that will be hard to come by.
Some people may recall in the movie Planet of the Apes—the original one where Charlton Heston finds out he is on earth and that mankind had destroyed itself—he sees the Statue of Liberty stuck in the sand. We might reach that state for a number of reasons but the one that is staring down on us particularly hard at this moment is Fukushima. The No. 4 reactor building that houses spent-fuel pool No. 4 is leaning, cracking and falling apart due to the almost constant earthquakes, [1] open-air radiation releases, and the weight of the water in the pool, which sits high up in the air on the third floor, leaving humanity Hanging by a Thread.
The chances of the building falling due to another major earthquake is high. People have been grossly misinformed about the tragedy at Fukushima and its consequences. There is a continuing cover up, the reactors have not been stabilized, and radiation continues to be released. Fukushima and reactor No. 4’s spent-nuclear-fuel pool are threatening the world.
http://zardoz.nilu.no/~flexpart/fpinteractive/plots/tracer_h_2622.gif
The vital and important static maps based on real time tabulations of the Norwegian Institute of Air Research pertaining to potential releases of radiation from the Fukushima plant were closed down soon after they showed the northern hemisphere was covered with radioactive xenon. The Atmospheric and Climate Change Department at the Norwegian Institute for Air Research (NILU) gave no reason why the vital monitoring service had been discontinued.
Actually they did not stop their work. Thereafter they continued publishing but with a secret file name Zardoz, [2] which is the name of a movie where Sean Connery played a mutant on a nuclear-contaminated world in the far future. He was employed by an elite class of people who lived in a protected dome to go out and kill other mutants who lived in the exposed environment. Is this the future coming to us today? One has to assume that this is exactly what they are previewing and why they chose that file name. The Norwegian Institute just published a report stating that the Fukushima disaster released twice as much radiation as initially estimated.
It is said that radioactive cesium attaches to muscle cells, including heart cells, and is causing an increase in heart attacks, including heart attacks in young [3] and otherwise healthy athletes who do a lot of cycling and running outdoors. The heart only replaces 1-2% of its cells per year, so it would be more vulnerable to radioactivity than other cells. [4] We already know this is the case with mercury and that athletes have fallen over dead and have been found to have mercury levels 10,000 times higher in their heart tissues. There have also been increases in infant mortality that started immediately after the disaster.
“Infant mortality is the most sensitive indicator of radioactive pollution,” says Leuren Moret. [5] Moret reported that when the nuclear plant at Rancho Seco was shut down, children’s mortality rate dropped 20%, and when the Diablo Canyon plant was turned on, the local population was exposed to enough radiation to drive up the childhood cancer rates in the local area by 80%.
Nuclear expert Arnie Gundersen is saying that radioactive rain-outs will continue for a year—even in Western U.S. and Canada—because the Japanese are burning radioactive materials. Gundersen says that this radioactivity ends up not only in neighboring prefectures, but also in Hawaii, British Columbia, Oregon, Washington and California. Gunderson warns of radioactive air, water, and soil that are going to affect the entire northern hemisphere if not the entire world. Leuren Moret says she has documented 100,000 excess American deaths since the Fukushima disaster, based on CDC data. [6]
Fukushima radiation has taken over our planet.
Leuren Moret
Radioactive iodine, cesium, strontium, plutonium, uranium, and a host of other fission products have been coming directly from Japan to the west coast for 13 months with no sign that it will stop.

Solutions

It’s simply not a good time to be gambling with the safety of our loved ones—with the possibility of a greater explosion at the Japanese nuclear power station with a resultant massive release of radiation that travels far and wide across our planet. We have to learn about natural detoxification and chelation protocols for ourselves and our children and we have to prepare ourselves spiritually, for it is not going to be a picnic surviving the 21st century.
The best solution to radiation poisoning, some have said, is to raise the vibrational level of the person higher than the level of the radiation. Makes some sense but the great question, if true, is how to do that. How do we raise our vibration that makes it more difficult to tear our cells apart with nuclear particles and the energy they put off?
Re-mineralization actually would be the most basic way of changing the frequency of our bodies. When our bodies lack in minerals our cells become like Swiss cheese—full of holes—spaces that heavy metals and radioactive particles just love to fill up. That is why I am recommending strong dosages of organic sulfur, iodine, sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) and magnesium to fill up those holes.
Another way to change frequency that naturalists have long known is to go on a long juice or water fast. Personally I solar gaze when the clouds do not block the sunrise. Doctors might be surprised when I say that the best medicine (besides water) is love and that a wide open heart that radiates out its love is the strongest way of us changing ourselves vibrationally. That’s why I wrote HeartHealth.
Special Note: I am writing a book titled Water Medicine and it’s going to be important to filter our water better and to raise its alkalinity. I have found what I believe to be the very best water in the entire world and that water is available from none other than Paul Mason who is otherwise known as the magnesium librarian. I cannot say enough about his water because it delivers the highest levels of magnesium and bicarbonate in the healthiest form of “magnesium bicarbonate,” which is most difficult to find in liquid form except in the sea. Hospitals should be buying this water by the truckload!

Summing it up

Fukushima will be stamped on the collective soul of humanity forever. It is a terrible moment for the lot of us but we parents have a special pain to embrace. In my last post, Fear and Courage, I deal with the emotional and feeling side of this catastrophe.
Michio Kaku sums up the Fukushima situation saying, “In regards to Unit 3, we found where we thought there was 33 ft. of water above the core. We put a TV camera in Units 2 and 3. We have TV pictures of the core; Unit 2 is completely liquefied, Unit 3 does not have 33 ft. of water on top of it, it has two feet of water. Two feet of water, not 33, meaning that the core is completely or partially covered, meaning it could liquefy. So between Units 2, which is completely liquefied, Units 3, which is totally exposed, and Unit 4, which has 1,500 spent-fuel rods that, in principle, are exposed to the outside environment, we have a catastrophe in the making.”
