Palestine Will Never be an Independent State

Well, never is a long time, but, the likelihood is 1 on a scale of 1 to 10.
Why?
Will Native Americans ever have an independent nation in the U.S.?
Will the Inuits have an independent nation in Canada?
How about the Natives of Mexico, Brazil, or any place in the Western Hemisphere?
How about Tibet?
You see, despite all of the platitudes, the rhetoric, the indignation, and the outrage, people don't really care enough about this issue.
Add to the mix a vow to destroy Israel, do you really think Israel will allow independent nation status?
If the militants, who were elected into power in Gaza by the people, were to really go away, you might see some autonomy, some economic freedom, and a lifting of many restrictions that would greatly improve the lives of the Palestinian people, but nationhood? Just don't see it and the world just doesn't really care.

March on to Baghdad

So the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant have basically sent American trained and armed Iraqi troops running, leaving their weapons behind. All of the billions of dollars, all of the lives lost and ruined, all for naught?

I can't help but wonder if we should just build a wall around the Middle East and let them all fight it out? There seems to be no respect for life, differing opinions, concern for women or children; there is only concern for power and dominance. The news says millions are fleeing. What would happen if those same millions said no to the militants and simply overwhelmed them. I don't mean to sound indifferent to the plight of the Iraqi people, but the time must come to stand against their tormentors and tell them/make them, go away.

I just don't if we, or the rest of the world, can justify more lives and even dollars on the Middle East insanity.

ISLAMIC MILITANTS: AN OXYMORON

I'm sure most have read or heard of this story:

PESHAWAR, Pakistan (Reuters) - Pakistani surgeons removed a bullet on Wednesday from a 14-year-old girl shot by the Taliban for speaking out against the militants and promoting education for girls, doctors said.

Malala Yousufzai was in critical condition after gunmen shot her in the head and neck on Tuesday as she left school. Two other girls were also wounded.

The Taliban, called Islamist militants, claim the shooting. One must ask: "Can there be such a thing as an Islamist militant? A Christian soldier? A Buddhist warrior? If you are a true follower of your prophets, this can not be. Pure and simple, such people are thugs, bullies and murderers hiding under the guise or religion to perpetuate their killing ways.
