Two realities diverge in the woods

Which one will you take? How about the reality less traveled?

It is said that  "if the scientists or observer is expecting a certain outcome to his experiment then that in itself has a large impact on the final results, increasing that potential of that particular probability to manifest from the quantum field, from his 'desired or expected expectation'".

This same principle holds true in every aspect of life and it is becoming increasing clear that reality is a function of perception and one that changes with each decision we make. We have all experienced waking up in a bad mood and the rest of the day goes to hell. Conversely, approaching a day with a light heart and a positive attitude creates a positive change in all of those around us. We have seen prophecies of doom and gloom come to naught, but perhaps this is really because the warning was heeded and changes were made. And yes, we have also approached issues with high expectations, only to see our hopes crushed. Creating a shared vision can sometimes be difficult. And yet, there are time when the greatest benefit arises from what had been perceived as the greatest disaster.

Throughout our socio-politico-economic systems, we see altering realities at work. Up until recent times, tell people that the economy is great and consumers respond with confidence and the economy improves. Tell people GMO products are wonderful and, at least for a while, everyone buys them. Tell people that the flu or some new manufactured disease is going around, and people respond accordingly-they get sick. Label a politician as too liberal and spend millions in attack ads and the politician is defeated. Each of these acts are reality altering events-conceived in the mind and created in the world.

In physics we have learned that if you measure an electron as matter, you get results for matter. But, measure it as a wave, and you get a wave. The observer and observed are one. So here we stand on a timeline, each moment making decisions that alter the reality. Turn left, you end up in Ohio, turn right and you end up in Maine. Be warned of disaster and expect it, and that's what you get. Be warned of disaster and refuse to accept it and act accordingly and the disaster is averted.

So here we are in the woods of time.  What reality, what path, do you choose to travel? It's really quite funny and quite simple. We each, and collectively, have the power to alter the course of all events. We know the 'secret,' but all to often, let others decide for us.

WORDS

As we all know, words have power. When combined with strong intent and emotion, words become a potent tool in the vibratory arsenal used to create realities. We are often admonished to choose our words wisely and yet, old cultural habits die hard. Even the most dynamic Now Age spiritual guides use words which, if carefully scrutinized, are counter productive to the intended message.
As we enter more deeply the paradigm of the Now Age, it seems appropriate to eliminate the outdated verbal baggage that no longer serves us. It is my intent to start a list of words which would be appropriate for elimination. Some of the words are obvious but others, because of their dual or ambiguous nature, still pervade the books, lectures and visual media of the proponents of spiritual evolution and mastery. I will offer the words and a brief rational as to why they need to enter the world of, “select all and delete.” While it may be difficult not to use certain words which are useful as object lessons, the less they are used, the less power they are given.
BELIEF or BELIEVE: To believe is to accept as true or real, to suppose, to have an opinion, to have faith. A belief is the mental acceptance in the truth or validity of something. To many, these words lack the solidity of truth. People understand that there are many beliefs and in doing so, understand that some are true and some are not. If I say that, “I believe that it will rain tomorrow” I do so with a degree of uncertainty. I am not positive it will rain, but I believe that it will. The connotations of “believe and belief” leave room for doubt. However, many put forth the notion that in order to consciously manifest a desire, you must “believe” that it has happened. The fact that the term “make believe” exists further clouds the mind as to the certainty of the word. To avoid doubt, it seems to me that the word KNOW should be used whenever possible. If you know something, there is no room for doubt.
FAITH: To have faith is to have a confident “belief” in the truth of something. Faith does not rest upon logical or material proof and it is often associated with the dogma of a particular religion. If you tell someone to have faith that their desires will manifest you are instilling a level uncertainty, blind acceptance and even religious connotation into your statement. Would it not make more sense to avoid this confusion and to once again use the word know in its place?
SHOULD: People are often told what they should and should not do. The term implies a duty or obligation. As a rule, this word is a turn off and tends to generate a less than desirable reaction. People do not like to be told what to do. Perhaps saying, “It may be appropriate or in your best interest” to do something would be a better choice of words.
GOOD, BAD EVIL: It would be appropriate to strike these words from all languages. How many have died because of these words? How many have suffered from depression or other manias by being called bad or evil? Yet, in almost all talks on the use of the Law of Attraction or other tools used to consciously manifest one’s reality these terms are liberally employed. We all know that what is “bad” today may be seen as something positive tomorrow. By using these words we perpetuate the whole “good versus evil” myth and do the world a disfavor. Even using words like “positive and negative” conjure up good vs. evil. They may be a step in the right direction but perhaps words like desirable and undesirable would be more effective and proper. While the manifest world is one of duality, it is not one of opposites but rather continuums.
There are many other words and phrases that we all know are inappropriate when putting forth spiritual principles. We often rail against words and phrases such as; can’t, lack, hate, need, want, it’s going around, there’s always something, death, disease, right, wrong, judgmental, and on and on. If we use these words in our writing, lectures, workshops, teleseminars and blogs, are we not giving them credence and power? By mentioning these words are we not attracting attention to them and continuing their vibratory place in the human psyche? We know that when you tell someone “not” to do something, their mind immediately focuses on what we are telling them not to do.
In an interview that I had with Dr. John Demartini he told me something that relates to this issue of semantics. Prior to conducting workshops in the Middle East, he spent a tremendous amount of time reading and studying the Qu’ran and leaning about local customs. He knew that if did not have a fundamental understanding of their values and word meanings, his mission would end in failure. I am sure that most inspirational speakers and spiritual leaders do the same any time they are doing work in foreign nations. I am not certain that an equal amount of attention is paid to such details when operating on familiar ground. When at home the tie often comes off and formality gives way to familiarity. Since words are thought, intention and emotion set to audible and/or visual vibration, would it not be appropriate to pay closer attention to the words we use to convey higher vibrations to our listeners, friends and loved ones?
Words become things. Words of judgment become the way we are judged. What you put out, it what is returned to you. As noted in JESUS TAUGHT IT, TOO: THE EARLY ROOTS OF THE LAW OF ATTRACTION, Jesus said, “But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man…” We are not just talking about semantics. Words are energy expressed and they can do much damage. Choose your words carefully. Whether it is about the current economic situation, politics, health, the environment or relationships, the way you express yourself has an impact not only you, but those who hear and then repeat those words. This is why The Secret warns against ‘wars on poverty or drugs” or protesting against, rather than for something. By carefully choosing the way you express yourself, you become a force for positive change.

Just what was Jesus trying to tell us?

The quoted words of Jesus in the Bible are by no means enigmatic; they are rather simple and straight forward. However, they can be interpreted in many different ways, on different levels. Right off the top, they can instruct us on how to live an ethical, moral, upright life. Digging further into them, they can lead us to an understanding of how to get beyond our selfishness and love everyone, even our enemies, as our own self. In “Jesus Taught It, Too! (The Early Roots of the Law of Attraction),” author Phil Harris has given us a stellar and insightful interpretation of Jesus as the Master Teacher who pointed out the Way to those who “have ears to hear,” on an even deeper level; that being a roadmap to not just following Christ and becoming “Christ-like,” but rather the self-discovery of all that we are, and that being nothing other than God Itself. There is just as much inner space as outer-space, and our sense of “I Am,” our conscious free will, is a swinging door opening up heaven or hell as we create either one with our thoughts and desires.

Very well written, well thought through, and with lots of added spiritual treats at the end of Harris’ expose, this book is a timely read, riding the crest of the current global interest in the Law of Attraction. Twenty or thirty years ago, this work would most likely have been dubbed as “esoteric” by the majority, but I believe that is not apropos in today’s climate of growing non-exclusive spiritual interest across the planet. This book is a valuable addition to anyone’s library who considers him or her self as a real investigator of spiritual truth. Probably a bit too over the top for anyone with literal mindedness or traditional fundamentalist Christian beliefs, but for those with an open mind, I highly recommend it!

Review written by Marvin D. Wilson, author, I ROMANCED THE STONE, OWEN FIDLER

“Your book is a profound; highly compelling piece of work… compelling one to wake up
from the dogma machinery… it should raise many eyebrows! And create some religious constipation!”
Ed Rychkun

“The Law of Attraction is no newly revealed secret, it was taught by a very humble man of God more than 2000 years ago. “Jesus Taught It, Too: The Early Roots of the Law of Attraction,” by Philip Harris presents a compelling argument that the Law of Attraction is not a modern paradigm shift. Harris puts forth that the teachings of Jesus and his followers is a mindset that requires knowing one’s inner meaning that comes from the heart. Jesus espoused the firm belief that faith is based on knowing…not hoping.
Harris’ in-depth research of Biblical scripture and history offers well-founded premises to support his discussion of Jesus’ simple message. According to Harris, Jesus taught that the reality of the world is that we live in a unified universe, free of judgment, seeking our spirituality. Organized religion is a man-made institution that teaches the faithful about the dogma of good, evil, sin and a punitive God. The New Age movement is not truly new, according to Harris, since the early 1800’s the movement of positive thinking and positive affirmations has included the likes of Alcott, Emerson and Thoreau. Man has sought to analyze spiritual thought and seek their inner Christ through visualization since the Apostles sat at the foot of their Master.
“Jesus Taught It, Too…” explores the concept that a true meditative state is found only when you are free of emotional, spiritual, and physical baggage. Through the recognition that God is not exclusionary you can reap physical, spiritual, mental, and emotional wealth. Doubt will ensure failure.
“Jesus Taught It, Too…” presents complex theocratic beliefs in simple, straight-forward language. The Law of Attraction addresses the powerful influence of positive thinking in the acquisition of physical and material needs. Jesus taught that by applying these same principals to one’s spiritual life, one’s physical and material needs will be met as a natural result of their application. Harris challenges the reader to “believe in the best with an inner conviction…and it will manifest in your life.” This book’s intriguing but down-to-earth message will appeal to any reader seeking to broaden their spiritual horizon.

This is a must read for those that are the true believers of Jesus Christ. Mr. Harris went beyond what the church would want you to know of Jesus as a philosophical human being, with knowledge not only in spirituality, but also of the true meaning behind the words. If you have been following the church and what they want you to believe blindly, then it is time to stop being just another one of the many sheep and become an individual power that can and will draw others into the truth of Jesus. This book is your start to that truth which will only grow with your new outlook upon the words of Jesus.”

THE INCREDIBLE POWER OF GRATITUDE!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
The following appears in POLARIZING YOUR LIFE TOWARD PERFECTION which is now on Amazon.com. While many are experiencing perceived lack and insufficiency, there is a power that can turn your thoughts and your reality 180 degrees. It is THE POWER OF GRATITUDE!

In a polite society we say "thank you" after we receive a gift. While that is nice, it not exactly the way the Universe works. Many falter in the manifestation process because they believe that they do not already have what they want. After all, if you cannot see it or touch it, it is not there-right? Wrong!!!!!!!!!!Everything and anything that you could possibly want or desire is all around you. It is in the form of energy-waiting to be shaped and brought into the physical world by the creative process of the mind.
Thoughts are things and all things are made of energy-physics 101. Nothing exists in the world that was not first thought about. A chair, a house, a plane, a computer, etc. are merely thoughts that have become manifest. I would go so far as to say that even you and all of the infinite manifestations of life exists because of the first thought-the prime mover-the creative consciousness behind all of existence.
When we say that we do not have something, we close the cosmic door. We are telling the Universe "I DO NOT HAVE" and the Universe grants your desire and "YOU DO NOT HAVE." It is said, "seek, and you shall find, knock and the door shall be opened." Unfortunately most people think this merely means that if you seek spiritual salvation, you will find it. However, these words are a basic Law of the Universe. In essence the law says that if you seek something, you will find it. It also says that what you have found is what you have sought. If you knock, a door will be opened, or the doors that have opened are the ones upon which you have knocked.
This puts life squarely upon your shoulders. What you have gotten is what you have sought. "But," you say, "I did not seek disease, poverty, financial lack, poverty, loneliness or general misery." Sorry, on some level you either consciously did or you unconsciously accepted these conditions because someone convinced you that is all you will ever get out of life. Someone gives you a canvass and some paints and you say, "What good is this? There is no picture on the canvass. It is blank." You are told to draw a picture and you balk because you are convinced that you are not an artist. As a result, other people use the paints to draw what they want. Now you are stuck with a picture you do not like.
Your world is the canvass and the paints are your mind seeking to create a beautiful picture. Because you are told that you cannot draw, you let others do it-you let others paint your world-create your world.
Now you sit, displeased with the picture but unwilling to change it because you are convinced that only others can paint. What does this have to do with gratitude? Because you do not feel that you can paint, you do not feel any level of thankfulness for the pictures others have drawn for you. You really wanted a picture of a beautiful house in the country but someone draws a run down apartment. Why should you be thankful, the picture is not what you want? Well, you shouldn't be thankful for something you don't want.
Only you can draw what you really desire. But, thinking your desires out of reach you fail to pick up the brushes-even though you have an endless supply of blank canvasses. A blank canvass is all things-in potential. Literally, anything imagined can be placed upon it. The reason it is not a picture of a nice house, or a good job or a wonderful relationship is because you refuse to draw your own picture. We convince ourselves that if we do not have it, there is no use in drawing it.
The fact of the matter is that you do have whatever IT may be. The canvass is all things; merely waiting your brush stokes to make it real. When you say that you have nothing to be thankful for, you are saying that the canvass can never have the picture you desire. You close the door without even trying to open it. You see the canvass as blank, but it can be whatever you desire it to be.
Giving thanks means that you have already received something. When you give thanks to the Universe for all that you could possibly desire, you are saying that you have received all that you could possibly desire. You give form and then substance to the energy that exists everywhere and by law, these things must manifest. If you say that the picture on the canvass is a new house, it cannot be a run down apartment-the panting can only be what is put on it.
It is only hard to give thanks for what you think you do not have because that is your conditioning. You can't paint? Not true-the world you have, you have painted. When you begin to accept the fact that you are the artist of your own life, you will begin to realize that all of those blank canvasses await your secret desires to be drawn by your creative mind.
Give thanks for all that you desire. They already exist in potential-it is up to you to make them real. TELL the Universe what you want and tell the Universe you are thankful that it has given you an unlimited supply of paint. Do not close the door of life by saying no thank you. "The purpose of life is to enjoy every minute of it."

THE "JUST IN CASE SYNDROME!"

While there are many successful users of the Law of Attraction there are still many who have yet to find the secret to the “Secret.” The publishing world is ripe with books on how to effectively use the Law of Attraction, including my book, “Jesus Taught It, Too: The Early Roots of the Law of Attraction” but still, many have yet to master its use. One major roadblock to would be masters of their own reality is what I call, “The Just In Case Syndrome.”

In addition to the notion that “like attracts,” the Law of Attraction contains within it basic corollaries such as form follows thought, where consciousness goes reality flows, what you think about the most you attract, fear attracts more fear, reality is thought made manifest and your world is a mirror of your predominant conscious and unconscious thoughts. Basically, what you hold in thought becomes your world.

Here is the problem: while many want to try to use the Law of Attraction, they suffer from the “just in case syndrome.” Here are some examples. You want or need a new car and you go through the steps of forming your intention, visualizing your new vehicle and even begin to show gratitude for what you expect to come. So far, so good. But, “but just in case” you fail, you decide to put a lot of repair money into your existing car. Another scenario: you want to free yourself of some illness or dis-ease and do all of the visioning for a whole and healthy body. But, “just in case,” you take any and every medication to try to cure you ailment. Or how about finding that perfect job? You begin to see yourself in your perfect occupation but, “just in case,” do all that you can to ensure that you do not lose your existing job.
The “just in case syndrome” applies to many such situations. Reducing weight, finding that perfect relationship, building a business, achieving a life goal, reaching a state of enlightenment, moving, finding a new home and all of those things one may desire are subject to this syndrome. Your thought process goes something like this; I desire “X” but “just in case” I am not successful, I will plan for “Y.” Now “Y” is often your current situation or something near to it. It exists because it has been your predominant thought(s) in your life. It is what you see in your life’s mirror that you do not like and want to change. The problem is that what you are really doing is trying to alter the image already in the mirror rather than changing what you are projecting on to the mirror.

Your personal mirror, despite all of its failings, is a comfort zone. You have become used to the image and even if it is ugly, it is familiar and has some odd sense of safety. It is what you have known to be true for your life and even though you want to change it, you provide for its continuance, “just in case.” Does this type of thinking send a clear message to the Universe about what you really desire? Are you not really telling the Universe, “I want this, but…?” Is this a powerful intention and a clear image of what you are aiming to manifest? This is not to say that you should delete all medications or not keep your car in functioning order. However, you have to closely examine your intentions and thought patterns and determine if they are more in the direction of what you want, or more in the direction of “just in case.”

Think about this syndrome on a national and international basis. We desire peace, but ‘just in case’ we also want the latest and most sophisticated weapons technology. We want better education and health care, but “just in case,” here is my compromise plan. The economy may be doing okay, but “just in case” here is our economic stimulus package. We want people to get a long and share ideas but “just in case,” lets build this wall or fence. It should be clear that intentions are mixed at best and contradictory at worst. When you say one thing and act in an opposite manner, the Universe sees your actions as your predominant thought and the world is as it is accordingly.

Some may say that the “just in case” syndrome is another term for lack of faith or belief. But of those words, to me, are suspect and by definition, imply uncertainty. There is “knowing” and there is belief, but “just in case” it might get confusing, that will be a topic for another day.

FROM THE SECRET SCROLLS

A Secret Scrolls message from Rhonda Byrne,
Creator of The Secret

"How do I stop my negative thoughts?" - is a question that I have been asked many times. If you have ever asked this question then you will feel such enormous relief in knowing the answer, because it is so simple. How do you stop negative thoughts? You plant good thoughts!

When you try to stop negative thoughts, you are focusing on what you don't want - negative thoughts - and you will attract an abundance of them. They can never disappear if you are focused on them. The "stop" part is irrelevant - the negative thoughts are your focus. It doesn't matter if you are trying to stop negative thoughts or control them or push them away, the result is the same. Your focus is on negative thoughts, and by the law of attraction you are inviting more of them to you.

The truth is always simple and it is always easy. To stop negative thoughts, just plant good thoughts! Deliberately plant good thoughts! You plant good thoughts by making it a daily practice to appreciate all the things in your day. Appreciate your health, your car, your home, your family, your job, your friends, your surroundings, your meals, your pets, and the magnificent beauty of the day. Compliment, praise, and give thanks to all things. Every time you say "Thank you" it is a good thought! As you plant more and more good thoughts, the negative thoughts will be wiped out. Why? Because your focus is on good thoughts, and what you focus on you attract.

So don't give any attention to negative thoughts. Don't worry about them. If any come, make light of them, shrug them off, and let them be your reminder to deliberately think more good thoughts now.

The more good thoughts you can plant in a day, the faster your life will be utterly transformed into all good. If you spend only one day speaking of good things and saying "Thank you" at every single opportunity, you will not believe your tomorrow. Deliberately thinking good thoughts is exactly like planting seeds. As you think good thoughts you are planting good seeds inside you, and the Universe will transform those seeds into a garden of paradise. How will the garden of paradise appear? As your life!

WHAT DO 10.4 MILLION WEB SITES AND JESUS HAVE IN COMMON?

There are 10.4 million sites on the internet devoted to the Law of Attraction and 168 million sites devoted to the topic of Jesus. Is there any relationship between these two phenomena? In the book and movie, “The Secret” it is claimed that the Law of Attraction has been kept secret for millennia. Is this true?

The answer to that question is a definitive yes, and no. The Law of Attraction, if you follow the claims of “secret societies,” goes back to ancient Egypt. It takes some careful analysis but the claims are essentially correct, in my opinion. However, what is more certain is that this concept has been in plain sight for over 2,000 years. Like the proverbial purloined letter, the Law of Attraction has been in millions of homes around the world in the teachings of Jesus.

All too often, the sayings of Jesus are taken out of context. It is rare to actually see what he had to say in the complete context of his teachings. If you examine his whole “stream of thought” on a topic, what results is a meaning and idea that frequently goes against what is taught as religious dogma. This is the case with the Law of Attraction. Given that many Christian “hard liners” spoke out against the concepts presented in “The Secret” and the Law of Attraction, I decided to take a closer examination of the actual sayings attributed to Jesus as they may relate to this subject. What I found, and have documented in my recently released book, “Jesus Taught It, Too: The Early Roots of the Law of Attraction,” was that Jesus was a strong advocate of this principle. He further talked about what has commonly been termed the “create your own reality” ideology and he actually introduced what I have termed, The Law of Responsibility.

Many have argued that these so called “laws” are not at all scientific and have no basis in the physical sciences. Equal arguments have been put forth by some scientists that they are, in fact, physical laws. That is a debate best left for others but recent advances in quantum physics at least suggests that there is more than meets the eye when it comes to how energy forces in the universe are organized and manipulated. To avoid that debate, let us just say that these are “spiritual laws.” I would have to say that few could argue with the basic premise, not including magnetism or electricity that like minded people tend to aggregate together. People join in groups, unions or marriages because they share similar interests. Animals form herds for mutual benefit, “birds of a feather flock together,” and even microscopic creatures form colonies. Is this a physical law? Perhaps it is but at a minimum the concept cannot be ignored in dealing with the notion that “like attracts like.” From political parties, book clubs, ethnic clubs, sports teams and other social groupings, the operating principle is that similar ideas are attracted to one another.

After all, does not religion spread because people come to share a common theology? It seems that whenever someone in the pulpit teaches the words of Jesus, it is always in the context of serving the church, not sinning, being faithful to god, worship and other concepts that perpetuate the need for the pulpit. What is not usually taught or examined is that Jesus taught about how to live your everyday life. He knew people were concerned about putting food on the table and a roof over their head. He saw that people were ill, poor and lacking in personal freedom. It is in this context that he put forward sets of principles and formulas that would enable people to live a happy life and not one of poverty stricken servitude and mindless worship. Jesus taught that the “fields were already white with harvest” and that the “guiding intelligence” of the universe saw to it that all needs and desires are met. These promises, contrary to what some would have you believe, were unconditional and required no servitude or worship. They only required an open mind that could pierce through the cloak of ignorance and blind obedience in order to see the light of truth.

WHAT DO JESUS, THE SECRET AND THE LAW OF ATTRACTION HAVE IN COMMON?

A new book, “Jesus Taught It, Too: The Early Roots of the Law of Attraction,” by Maine author Philip Harris says they have a lot in common. In his new book, released in both Canada and the U.S. by Avatar Publications on August 1st, Mr. Harris claims that the contentions made by Rhonda Byrne in the film and movie, “The Secret” are largely correct. “The often commented upon Law of Attraction does indeed go back at least 2000 plus years and were widely taught by Jesus,” according to Harris.

The new book takes a different approach in examining the words and teachings of Jesus. Rather than examining one saying at a time, Mr. Harris puts the words into a stream of thought that appear throughout the four Gospels. “When we look at what Jesus had to say on a topic in isolation, one story or interpretation emerges,” said Harris. “But when you examine all that he says on a given topic, you get a new stream of thought that is often ignored.” This “stream of thought” would indicate that Jesus not only taught the Law of Attraction, but also laws pertaining to manifestation and a newly discovered law, the Law of Responsibility.

Mr. Harris says, “When the words of Jesus are interpreted out of context they can be used to justify many contradictory concepts. In JESUS TAUGHT IT, TOO: THE EARLY ROOTS OF THE LAW OF ATTRACTION, Philip Harris examines over seventy quotes from the Master and shows that, contrary to recent claims and "revelations," the Law of Attraction has not been a secret at all. Instead, it has been there for all to see for over two thousand years.

This is Philip Harris’ third published book. His first novel, “Waking God” was released in 2006 and his second, “A Maine Christmas Carol” came out in February, 2007. His next non-fiction book, “Raping Louisiana: A Diary of Deceit” is in editing at Cambridge Books and advanced copies will be available late fall.

THE ROMAN CIRCUS AND "THE SECRET"

The recent AP story concerning the book and the movie, “The Secret” is humorous at best and disturbing at worst. The following are a few highlights from the story reported by CNN News:
“CHICAGO, Illinois (AP) -- While "The Secret" has become a pop culture phenomenon, it also has drawn critics who are not quiet about labeling the movement a fad, embarrassingly materialistic or the latest example of an American propensity of wanting something for nothing.
Some medical professionals suggest it could even lead to a blame-the-victim mentality and actually be dangerous to those suffering from serious illness or mental disorders.
"It's a triumph of marketing and magic," said John Norcross, a psychologist and professor at the University of Scranton in Pennsylvania…" 'The Secret' has earned my antipathy for its outrageous, unproven assertions that I believe go beyond the ordinary overpromises of most self-help books into a danger realm," he said.
The book's mantra of "ask, believe, receive," he said, easily transforms into a blame the victim mentality.
"Cancer victims. Sexual assault victims. Holocaust victims. They're responsible?" Norcross said. "The book is riddled with these destructive falsehoods."
"The law of attraction says that like attracts like, and when you think and feel what you want to attract on the inside, the law will use people, circumstances and events to magnetize what you want to you, and magnetize you to it," Byrne said in an e-mail in response to several questions posed by The Associated Press.
… the fear that "The Secret" will lead to a blame-the-victim mentality is a serious claim of critics.
Psychotherapist and lifestyle coach Stacy Kaiser said that after reading "The Secret," several patients have worried that it was their fault they were abused, or laid off from their jobs. Others seem to expect everything in their lives to change overnight, she said.”
While there were some positive comments about “The Secret” in the article the overall tone was that people are being scammed. The use of such words as “dangerous, blame and outrageous” are used by those who have no real understanding of spiritual thought and I cannot help but wonder if they actually read the book. Is the book and movie perfect in their presentation? No. Are the claims dangerous? No
Let’s postulate another scenario which few claim is dangerous or outrageous. A group come along and says that there is only one god and they have the inside track on the intentions and so called desires of that god. They say that if you do not worship their god, IT will condemn you forever in a fiery inferno. If you do worship this god and give it a lot of money and build temples for worship, it will forgive you your sins. Even though this god made you and is all knowing it has condemned you from the start and only proper worship and duty will save you-well, some of you-144,000 to be exact. This god loves you but says that you must live a life that does not include material wealth, which you should give to its temples. And, if you are really good, some of you will get to be happy forever, when you die. Oh, to test your loyalty, this god has created all kinds of demons and monsters that will tempt ant taunt you. Although it has also created some good spirits that will send you messages every now and then but, in the end, even they will unleash plague, pestilence, war and untold suffering. Basically, if you want to be rewarded when you die: lead a good life, obey all of the rules, live a life of misery, kill those who do not believe and maybe, you will be saved.
If you want to talk about creating a victim mentality it seems that most religions have already done that. You are born a sinner, you are entitled to a life of misery, you are worthless (but loved), and you are probably going to hell. And you wonder why our society is riddled with disease and the world is forever at war. Most established institutions always have a negative and even violent reaction when something threatens their established dogma. Books like “The Secret” offer a good life in the here and now and yet as a result of this idea, they must be based upon selfish, materialistic concepts? Such claims show a total lack of understanding regarding humanity’s evolution and the dangers and threats posed by those organizations that are more concerned about their own survival and the status quo. The good thing is that all of these uninformed remarks only make the new ideas more popular. Remember what the Roman circus did for Christianity?

THE MANIFESTATION CATCH-22

THE MANIFESTATION CATCH-22

If we can manifest our own reality, why is it that you seem to have a problem getting started? Aside from the largest issue being that you think that someone else, a “higher authority” has told you that it cannot be done and that it is a foolish notion, why can’t you just give it a try. Of course, that is Catch-22 number one. You only want a test drive and you are fully aware that there are many things to try.

But, for the sake of argument, let’s say that you are going to be sincere in your effort. You have heard a lot about the Law of Attraction and you actually believe that it can be done and are convinced that others have been successful. You decide that the most pressing issue, at the moment, in your life is the lack of financial resources so that will be your first goal, to manifest some money. Catch-22! The catch is that you tell the Universe you lack financial resources so “lack” is your message.

You put all of your bills into a stack and figure out how much money you need. Catch-22! You are telling the Universe that you are needy. You then come up with a firm amount-could be a Catch-22-you are saying that is all you need. You then tell the Universe that you want to win the lottery to pay off you bills. Catch-22! Maybe the Universe has a better way to pay the bills that does not include the lottery. You buy some tickets and get angry that you do not win. Catch-22! Your anger gives power to you idea of financial deficiency.

Time for a different approach? You look at you bank statement and get concerned that you do not have enough money. Obvious Catch-22! You then decide that you are going to visualize your bank account with a certain sum. That’s okay in a way but you have in the back of your mind that your account needs more money. Catch-22! You sit back waiting for your checking account to grow. Catch-22! You are not taking any action. When it doesn’t, you get depressed, Catch-22, and you decide that the Law of Attraction is a bunch of bull. The Big Catch-22!

For those of you who are not familiar with Catch-22 it the title of a book by Joseph Heller. The notion is something like this. If you want to move to the U.S. you have to have a job. To have a job in the U.S. you must live here. That is the concept of Catch-22.

I offer the following from Dan on The Shower Channel, “It can be a very difficult thing for you to hear and accept that you never really improve any situation by focusing on what’s going wrong. You never really solve a problem by focusing on the problem. You never get yourself to a place that feels better by focusing on what feels bad (but don’t tell the psychologists that). A more precise and important way of putting it is that you cannot move forward in the direction of your dreams and desires when you are focused on the fear or the worry of failure. You cannot move in the direction of what you want when you are insisting upon staring at what is, where you are.
In fact we would encourage you to never pay attention to what is unless it is delightful to do so. Never give your attention to “what’s real” or “what’s true” unless that reality or that truth feels joyful or hopeful or comforting or reassuring or encouraging . . . For as long as you are giving your attention to anything that distresses or concerns or confuses or frustrates or scares you . . . then you are holding yourself in a place where the joy or the fulfillment or the love or the appreciation or the satisfaction cannot flow freely to you. You are stuck in a place that feels bad and you are stuck there for no reason other than that being what you are choosing to focus on.”

I hope that you can see the Catch-22 in all of this. The moment you try to solve a problem you are sending out mixed messages. You are affirming you have the problem. You are focusing attention on the problem and giving it energy. You are keeping it alive because where your thoughts and emotions go, so does the Law of Attraction. We are told to “take no thought…the fields are already white with harvest and if you have, more will be give.” The point is that when you give energy to a problem, you get more of the problem. What you give thought to is what the Universe will focus on. If you say you do not have, then you do not see the harvest in your life. If you focus on getting, the Universe responds by giving you getting. But, if you focus upon having, the Universe gives you more of what you have. Where your emotions go, the Universe goes also.

These are just some of the Catch-22’s. You must be ever vigilant about your thoughts and emotions. If your desire is money, tell the Universe you really like money and that you are thankful for the money in your life. Do not look down upon the lowly penny but rather give thanks for every penny you have or find. Gives thanks for every bill that you pay and be joyous that you are able to spread the wealth and share with others, even if they are the bill collectors. Focus upon the “have” and not the have not. Remember, every word that follows “I” is very powerful and sends a message to the Universe. Avoid using I want, I need, I don’t, I should, I wish, I need, etc.

I do not mean to focus upon money but it is such an easy example to use. The same applies to every aspect of life and all of your emotions. Do not hold yourself in place by focusing upon your current situation. Walk, talk, think and plan with an attitude of already having. When you change your mindset, things will begin to change and the Catch-22s will begin to fade from your life.
